First SEC PPD: Vandy-Mizzou

Dores only had 56 scholarship players available Saturday vs. South Carolina, but the numbers have apparently taken a turn for the worse since then.

Probably just a contact tracing precaution rather than actual case-related, but still unfortunate (as an alum of both institutions; I know most people couldn't care less about these 2 programs).

I'm sure they had no issues postponing a low-key "no one gives a crap" game like Mizzou-Vandy. Would they ever do that for a game like UGA-Florida, LSU-Alabama, or Alabama-Auburn?

I have my doubts.

Which is odd given Davidson/Nashville has the strictest, or at least has had, the strictest masking and other Covid related restrictions here in central Tennessee by far. I haven't been paying attention as I haven't been down there since this all started, but I thought they were generally doing ok. Everything entertainment related got canceled so there isn't any real reason to go to Nashville, at least at my age.

Well, maybe no reason for anyone not from nashville to go there, which is pretty much the case for every place everywhere but a lot of people still live there.  Obviously a lot of people go to school there.

Strictness of restrictions doesn't seem to matter much anywhere.  More about compliance and young people just aren't complying anywhere.

Is this just isolated though or is Nashville as a whole experiencing a spike?

That's just it, I haven't heard Davidson is having a spike at all. I see The Tennessean (newspaper) is trying to manufacture some news by calling some of the rural counties a spike every time we get a few hospitalizations, but I've not seen a thing on Nashville/Davidson county. That made me "assume" everything was fine there or they would be making more noise about them.

It makes me wonder if maybe it's localized to sports medicine? Do they share phsycians/medical staff? Vandy is the premier medical institution in town. I would assume someone a lot smarter than I am would have thought of that by now though.

They don't, but you're entitled to your "science" just as I am mine. There are many in the medical community that are questioning the narrative and have proven ineffectiveness but they are easily dismissed as misinformation, and then credibility is attacked and facebook/google/youtube/twitter swoop in to censor.

You can link 20 articles mainly from mainstream news and government institutions, but I've lost faith in them to report accurately. Nice to have a somewhat respectable exchange of ideas/opinion though. The mask is meant to divide this country further, as are other societal issues, but I digress.

Which is one of the reasons why Japan, a country which has not had a stringent lockdown but where people have been wearing masks heavily for years, has had less than 2000 COVID-19 deaths. (That would be roughly 6000 if they had a population the size of the US.)

Seriously. Masks are a pain in the ass they're not perfect, but wearing them helps.

Which is pretty much the conclusion I've come to. It can't hurt to wear them, and it can to not do so. Whenever I go somewhere I can't keep my distance I wear one.

The science isn't perfect on their benefits, but I'm convinced that's because people act like they are invincible when they have a piece of fabric covering their face.

As the child and sibling of three Mizzou alums and the grandchild of an emeritus prof and physics dept head at Mizzou, the Tigers have always been the CFB program I root hardest for after Michigan.

My father worked in ag climate research and the extension service at Mizzou in the early 80s, studying the potential impact of the increase of CO2 on climate, the economy, and everything in between. Then the administration in Washington at the time decided that that was not a good use of research dollars and axed the funding. I spent one summer of my college years there and enjoyed it quite a bit. Being the only legal adult on a summer rec league softball team made me a dozen new friends very quickly.

Yup, don't give a crap about either and that's probably the only reason why they postponed it.   Coach O would just tell his players to suck it up.

btw, how in the heck did you end up going the those two schools?   Seems like they have nothing in common.
