It says nothing very interesting. It says RR plans on playing both QBs and if Forcier struggles, watch for Denard to come in. There's also a blurb that suggests that RR may use 3 qbs on the field next year at the same time. All speculation. The scouts preview suggests that RR may go with Denard as the starting QB (another page). Not sure where that comes from. http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/features/take2?gameId=292970130

Honestly, it's not worth the price of admission. They cite to a story out of a Pittsburgh paper that just says both TF and DR are expected to play on Saturday, and then they speculate along the lines of "Well, Forcier struggled at the end of the Iowa game, so if he struggles Saturday, look out!!111!!1!!!1111!!" It's speculation based on nothing we don't already know. For a comparison, if someone here, on the message board, cited the same Pittsburgh newspaper story, and made the same points as the ESPN writer, you'd respond with "Why are you posting this?"

"...all you need to do is cue up the footage from the Iowa game's closing moments, when Rodriguez had to hold Forcier back from running onto the field, to know who he thinks should be getting the ball in the crunch time moments." Quite misleading and clearly the intern who wrote this hasn't followed the M season too much. Forcier was injured and played a pretty shitty game...nothing more to that decision. Anyone disagree?

It's pretty clear that in that moment, RichRod completely gave up on Tate. He may even drop Tate below David Cone on the depth chart (Coner did have better numbers against Delaware State, and did so while dropping mad rhymes). Sure, some may suggest that RichRod should give some weight to the first 5 games of the year, in which Tate was efficient, accurate, and productive. To that I say... Bullshit. The last game is the only one that matters for determining ability to not suck. [/sarcasm]

I'm negging you (I'll be gentle, don't worry) for lack of faith in your fellow MGoBloggers not to get the sarcasm. I know what you're going to say: "but people miss sarcasm all the time, and then I get negged!" To which I reply: nut up, you pantywaist. If you're so desperate to protect your precious cache of MGoPoints, that you won't trust the better angels of your fellow e-man and e-woman, then al-Qaeda has already won.

The "he" in "who he thinks should be getting the ball" is referring to Tate, not Rich Rod. The writer's point was that while Tate has said all the right things about "what's good for the team," he clearly believes he should be playing at the end of the game. Which, a-duh. If either Tate or Denard DIDN'T think they should be in the game during crunch time, I'd find it disconcerting.

This is getting away from the OP, but I think there are a lot of people that misinterpreted that situation. As I saw it Tate was running on to the field to shout some words of encouragement to Denard. I certainly didn't see anyone having to forcibly remove him from the field.

Presumably this is the kind of penetrating analysis we're paying for as ESPN Insiders: "I think playing both QBs has been a very good thing for Michigan this year and I feel like he'll keep mixing them up because it keeps defenses off balance. Both guys bring something different and it also has minimized the pressure on them. Ultimately I think Forcier is the guy because he's so good at throwing on the run. Then again, next year the real chaos begins when uber QB prospect Devin Gardner arrives. He's big, fast and smart. Rodriguez may play all three on the field at the same time."

This is only slightly off topic, as the latest Inside the Fort on Rivals talks about rumors cirulating about Devin Gardner and being recruited by Florida. This post reminded me of that, but as I don't have a subscription, I don't know what is being said. I know that Josh Hemholdt said earlier in the week that he spoke to Devin, his coach and his mother and all said that Devin is still 100% with Michigan. Does anyone know if Rivals is just reiterating this or if there is some new development?

Here's a neat trick to read ESPN Insider articles without a subscription. 1. Click on the link to the article 2. Delete everything in the URL after "action=" 3. Type the word "null" without quotation marks immediately after the equal sign, and viola!!! You can now view the article. Don't ask me why it works.
