Yes, they are limited to highlights, but one can get a good sense of critiquing skills based off of highlight films. How do you think Ronnie Bell was offered? They saw his highlights and then set up more tape review and a visit to him.

Without question, a majority of fans have no clue, if they never played or are just looking for the play to unfold, how to analyze the player—we are not Harbaugh—but plenty of us can critique play decently off highlights. For one, decision making. Another, fundamentals in how they play.

Curious as to the level of competition he faces.

Many of those runs featured a guy looking at Gray coming towards him and throwing out a fat NOPE not even gonna try (e.g. 1:10 in the video).

Plus the amount of not squared up arm tackling is ridiculous.

Not saying he isn't amazing - just his competition seems way below his level.

In the TSSAA, Luasanne is Division II AA, which is classified "middle sized". Last year and this year, Lausanne went up against Whitehaven, which is 6A, the largest division for schools that do not offer need based financial aid, fwiw. Whitehaven is one of the top programs and Luasanne beat them back to back in '17 and '18, in no small part due to Mr. Gray.

The kid is outstanding at reading and setting up his blocks and he is simply incredible at running through arm tackles and traffic. He has exceptional body-lean in the hole that will be beneficial no matter the level of competition. He is more quick than fast and that lack of a second gear will reduce his production at the next level-Michigan's S&C program may be able to build that next gear for him.

Charbonnet, Gray and Jackson have been touted as the best RB recruiting group in this class. The ceiling does appear to be very high. Rumler and Jones will surely be a good place to start with their o-line and the other three kids hold good promise-plus likely another OT in the class...Ruiz, Mayfield,  Stueber, Hayes, Filiaga,  Honigford...This is going to be an elite and powerful group going forward.

this is one of those "Michigan fans aren't happy if they aren't happy" thing. Also if this is what those fans are going to say then they need to also stop saying that "winning is going to change things" because the team is now winning and looking good doing so. there is nothing that will make some fans happy no matter what it is.

Why would we not hold on to him? Best defense in the land, three awesome QB's lined up for the future, an offense that leads with the RUN, going to the playoffs, smashing PSU next weekend, only way he doesn't come is if we want someone better, it's honkening.
