Early Festivus - Airing of Grievances!

Submitted by tasnyder01 on November 26th, 2018 at 6:18 PM

Ladies and Gentlemen,

We have gone through a hard time, and we are all (presumably) sober by now.  Not much news, and even less to talk about.  There is little positive to say about the situation, so I say we lean into the negativity.

We've had the airing of grievances in the past, usually about the end of the season.  It's a useful time to get our stupid pet peeves out, and to Not Think About Sad Games.  So the rules are:

1.) Try not to be a dick.  Should all be in good fun.
2.) Try not to be a wuss.  Don't take things (too) personally.

Did you mean "My statement, which is fact based", or "My statement, which is in fact base?"  I presume that went over your head though.  Like the following will.

EVERY FUCKING DEFENSE DOES WORSE AGAINST GOOD OFFENSES!

Again, you're saying he's not great.  Compared to what?  To this golden ideal that does not exist in real life?  Or compared to other coaches.  His defense is in the top 3.  This year.  Last year.  In BC.  In UConn.  In UMaryland.

Top 3 is great.  When compared to real people, with real teams, he's in the top 3.

I will grant, when you compare him against unrealistic goals that are impossible, yes, he doesn't do them.  You have a point there.

The defense didn't have a bad day against OSU last year.  They played it quite well, actually.  Talk to the offense...  And FSU - that was one of Michigan's best coached games since Harbaugh arrived.  Lost Peppers before the kick and covered him with a raw freshman that saw a handful of garbage time snaps all year.  Sometimes, the opponent is a good team make plays, too...

None of the hot takes would really matter too much if the FBS would get off their collective arse and establish a playoff just like every other level of foosball. (it’s not a typo)

The margin for error is too narrow for most good teams, of which Michigan may be one(?).

Anyway, FBS blows. Let the 6-8 win teams have a trophy from a bowl game and let the top 16 teams duke it out.

Then the cupcake games would go away and then, and only then, would we see some fantastic early season non-conference games by all the contenders afraid to lose early on.

My grievance is ever since Tressel made that speech the Michigan Football program has never recovered. Who will do anything about said grievance?

My biggest grievance today?  MICHIGAN people who think it’s ok to use the phrase “autistic retard” anywhere, let alone on this board.  Second grievance, that they aren’t permanently banned.

I want Don Brown to embrace more zone concepts and be more cerebral when attacking an offense...no more “fuck that, just go”

I, too, want to neuter our Defensive Coordinator's general philosophy and approach over one result and ignore his perennial FBS-leading success. Why he can't stop every single offensive concept ever imagined every year?

**Edit: Oh yeah. Grievances. Sorry. Uh, that shit I replied to.

Uh, I don't think that's what he meant. I think he was aiming at the idea of prepping for that type of scheme so when you play a great passing offense like OSU, you can adjust and not be out of sorts.

People that say we need 5 stars at every position to beat Ohio.

As if Mork Dantonio didn't win 2 big ten titles doing exactly that or if Clemson didn't throttle Urban Meyer 31-0 with 10-15 ranked recruiters

It's ok to admit Harbaugh isn't the savior we thought and that hes a good recruiter and organization and terrible tactician.

1) Using team's offense/defense stats in College ball as a way to compare various teams. They are playing completely different schedules.

2) ESPN's constant yammering about the 'Playoff Race.'

3) BB announcers who say "If (team x) cuts the lead to single digits by half 'they'll feel good about themselves."

 4) Punting inside your opponents 40 yard line.I'm looking at your Ferentz.

5) ANNOUNCERS WHO SCREAM THE WHOLE FUCKING GAME.

6) People who say 'WARshington.'

7) Media assholes who say "It's good for College football when ND has a good team."

Mrs. Hatter hit a pothole today and caused a blow out. Naturally she kept driving the car for a while so thankfully the wheel didn't get fucked up. So I take a detour to go save the day and change her tire. Luckily we have a full size spare. That was flat. Which I didn't discover until I had the car up on the jack. So I take the spare to get air, during which time the POS jack collapsed. Fuck Monday.

This isn't really a grievance per se but you know those ads during the podcast for HuEl, where they help people overcome Chronic Crappy Website Disorder?

Yeah.  I really hate sites that suffer from Chronic Crappy Website Disorder.

The night after the ND loss, I was at Jug sharing a pitcher with a couple friends. We hung around for a while, but toward the middle of the night we saw Gentry come in with a few girls and take a booth. Drank next to all of us miserable wrecks drowning our sorrows from the game he played in not maybe 24 hours earlier. Big smile on his face, not a care in the world the whole time we saw him.

Basically, I hate people who don't fully commit to the team. Whether it be group projects, sports, or whatever, I cannot stand when people don't pull their own weight. One weak link can be the beginning of a break. Can't have that.

Edit: never mind. I bitched about the thread before I read any of it.

I fucking hate people who do that!

Only grievance I have is that getting older happened a lot faster than it seemed like it would when I was 20.

I'm 50 now and I was 35 about 20 minutes ago.

I never understand why people keep trying to make Stanford the goal-state for Michigan football.

Stanford never even had a sniff at a NC.  They would only be a middle tier team in the Big Ten East.

They are another version of Wisconsin.  We can do better.  We need to do better.

Ohio State would have crushed any of Harbaugh's Stanford teams.

I'm sick of people saying that Harbaugh is on the hot seat. Harbaugh is a perfect fit and is great as our coach. We may only be a 8-4 to 10-2 type B1G team with that once in a while shot to beat OSU and win the B1G and may be get into the playoffs.
