Has anyone heard from Gedeon of late? Seems like he's been quite since his visit.   Is there an Aquaman version of the Bat signal (which would be stupid, because chances are Aquaman couldn't see it if you shined the signal off the a cloudy sky... being underwater and all)?

Unfortunate. I kind of figured he'd back out though, considering we're in on both Levenberry and Gedeon and already have McCray, and that he backed out on Florida after they pulled in a bunch of LB's.

Eh, I'm still not so sure about all the stopping recruiting LBs.  I don't think Gedeon is a lock, nor Levenberry especially if he's waiting to decide.  Not to mention that I still don't think that McCray wouldn't flip if Ohio comes hard after him later.  Doesn't seem to make sense not even letting these talented LBs even visit.  I suppose it's not that big of a deal considering the haul of LBs in the last class, but I hope this all just works out.

It is entirely possible that if the cancellation wasn't his doing, then the coaching staff has a little more insight on the intentions of Gedeon/Levenberry than is available to the public. The coaches do a good job of recruiting players who have the requisite character to represent the University of Michgian. It's not only about freakish athletic ability. That being said, if they have committments (silent or verbal), you have to believe that the players are going to stand by their word.

I don't really understand this move.  Are they full at the DB position too?  They should let anyone interested visit and see where it goes.  This kid can play a few positions from what I understand..

Isn't this more reason to be upfront with the kid. DD is from a football factory. Having the kid visit on his dime when we are full at LB (assuming that BG is a silent or something similiar) without letting him know the situation would have looked bad on our school and the coaches. Now, the coaches at good Council appreciate that they were up front with their recruits and that little bit will help later

The coaches aren't telling kids that they can't visit.  The coaches are telling these kids that they are full at their position.  There's a difference.  Recruits can still visit - it's just that they don't want to because there's no point in wasting their time.  We're full at offensive line, but Colin McGovern was still welcomed to campus.

I don't understand why the coaches would prevent him  from visiting. Unforseen things happen, and  if our plans a linebacker recruits don't work out excactly as they wanted, (Get McCray, Gedeon, plus Levenberry) They would have someone in Dorian O'Daniel who has already visited.

Additionally, he's stated that he won't be deciding until next January. So, I don't understand why he would have been told not to visit. Unless there's a policy in place by the coaches I'm not aware of.

Wish someone would make a post we can just copy and paste the link when this comes up;

The coaching staff are 100% behind the kids that commit to Michigan and expect the same loyalty in return. Allowing other linebacker recruits to come and visit after the position has supposedly been filled is a bit of a slap in the face to those who committed early. I understand the idea that the staff should plan for the worst but in this situation it would go completely against what Hoke and the other coaches have been saying to these kids.

and the OL spots only filled up the week before. Maybe he had already bought a plain ticket, and the coaches hosted him to not be a dick. O'Daniel wasn't visitng for a while so maybe he was told save the airfare money oif he hadn't already purchased the tickets.

in advance his position was full at the moment, but still decided to visit. My guess is O'Danial was told they were full at LB, but he was welcome to come visit and would be considered should circumstances change. He understandably decided not to come without a commitable offer.

Hoke and Co. are being upfront with recruits which I'm sure they appreciate, as the honesty is one of the qualities consistently sited by recruits about why they chose Michigan.

Agreed. Pharoah Brown took a visit last year after committing and it cost him his offer. When T Rich wanted to take some of his officials after committing he was told that he would lose his offer. Hoke seemed to have a no tolerance policy toward visits after a committment. If he were to spend money to bring in other kids it would appear to them that he was not sold on them. That needs to be a two way street and Hoke is a smart enough guy to know that.

let the kid enjoy the beautiful campus and visit the stadium and work out facilities. Unless he has been here already, and or didn't want to see Ann Arbor.

I don't see what is wrong with at least letting the kid visit, props to the coaches for being honest to the kids though, would have been nice to get O'Daniel though, his tape is great

@DougieDTripleOD: Kinda blown, but now that means room for a new top school! Time to workout with my bros. That pretty much clarifies that it was the coaches telling him that the LB class is full. Honestly it's sad to see a kid get turned away from a school he loves, but I guess that's just how recruiting is.

The only "problem" that exists is the one that you're conjuring up in your own mind. We're full at the WILL. The coaches were up front and honest with the kid. Why have him waste his own money on a plane ticket and motel room if we're not interested in taking another WILL? There is no room for O'Daniel, unless of course you'd rather have him over, say, another defensive back, a 3rd wide receiver or a 4th defensive linemen (and hopefully you wouldn't want to...)

Fuller has always been the longest of longshots. He isn't coming to Michigan.

why didn't they just tell the kid that from the start.  It's not like we have a verbal from a WILL so the coaches just recently must have decided that they weren't going to recruit one.  GC is loaded with talent every year and we've known for a while that O'Daniel was coming for the spring game.  You know that bad news travels at 10 times the rate of good news and O'Daniel doesn't sound very happy about this development.

I'm glad the coaches are giving the recruits the heads up that they are full are their positions and giving them the option of deciding if they want to spend their own money on an unofficial.  I just hope this doesn't come back to bite them in the future.  We wanted 6 OL last year and looked like we might make it or even get 7 with Garnett, Diamond, and Kozan still on the board.  Instead Stacey decommitted and we didn't land any of those on the board and ended up with four.

As for Fuller, if you get him on campus you have a shot even if it is a long shot.  If you don't you don't have to worry about it.
