Quote:

Today's hires by Florida and Nebraska tell u a lot about the market and who's available. Do people think Michigan football is any bigger than Florida or Nebradka Football? Now consider how much more stable and less of a dumpster fire both Nebraska and Florida are than Michigan right now. Both of those jobs are better than the Michigan job right now and every coach in the country knows it. Now do you think Nebraska and Florida would have hired the guys they did if Bob Stoops, Mullens, or Jim Mora Jr or even Shaw were available? Nothing against the guys they did hire, but they both have fanbases that were screaming for those big names too.

Those names are not available, if they were they would have taken the better jobs in Florida and Nebraska.

Any coach knows he's walking into a complete mess in Ann Arbor, they have a brand new president who knows nothing about athletics, a part time interim first time AD, deep divisions in the athletic department as a whole. A guy like Bob Stoops isn't going to leave Oklahoma where he's had 1 school President and one AD his entire time there. Stoops also has an $11 Million buyout.

If there were big names to be had, Nebraska or Florida would have hired one, period. Their ADs answer to fans and alumni too, you think they're going to make those hires when Stoops or Mora was available? You think they're going to leave those guys for Michigan to go after? So their fans can say a week or two from now, "Freaking Bob Stoops was available and we hired XXXX? WTF? Looks like I won't be renewing my season tickets this fall!" The only big names UM ever had a shot at were ones with ties to UM, now that those are off the table they got squat, they're going to get whoever Nebraska or Florida might have called next if they hadnt gotten McCelwain and Riley.

We have a lot more of both. Nebraska isn't big at all and is a much smaller venue. Florida has money, but not Michigan money. Florida doesn't have great tradition.

This dude ripped off Mike Valenti's bullshit propaganda from 97.1 The Ticket.

Here's why you should remain calm and not listen to Spartan bullshit propaganda. First, Nebraska hired a guy in 4 days. That's hardly enough time for a true coaching search which should lead you to believe they hit a guy in their top 3. Second, Florida is buying out a coach for $5 million. No one does that unless that was one of the top guys on their list. Especially after paying their former coach $7.5 million to piss off. They could have easily found someone else comparable without having to fork over a considerable amount of money. And finally, who cares what Spartan assholes have to say?

OR, what grown-up, professional, big boy organizations do is they have a plan in place for succession of key personnel.

Nobody knows if it took 4 days or if their coach now had been on Lincoln’s radar for a while.

Unlike Barnacle Bill Martin who clearly was left scrambling when Carr retired for some reason.

Thank you for everything you've done for Michigan football and for humanity. You are a good man ... Sincerely.

Now, stay the fuck out of this search....

This blog is at its worst when the topic of conversation is Lloyd Carr or Rich Rodriguez. Almost any thread about either guy ends up loaded with craziness, nastiness, and dead horse beatings.

I officially believe this is happening now. There's no way Lloyd makes a public comment about anything Harbaugh related unless it's already happening right? Right?

RIGHT?

Sadly it's not up to Lloyd, it's up to Jim Harbaugh.

On a side note, Lloyd needs to quietly head into the shadows. He's doing nothing good for this program anymore. He's just an obstructionist.

I wouldn't take this as gospel, but I was browing the scout boards and a guy was getting quite upset about people continuing to get the supposed Les and Moeller's wife story wrong.

Also those of you that were around as it was before my time, was McCartney ever a candidate to replace Bo? Or Moeller when he was fired? Considering he won a national title at Colorado he seems like he could have been a good choice. However, if he was and didn't get it, this could be a reason why:

I have posted the real reason a number of times here before. But that's not the point. The point is that no one should be posting a rumor like that when in fact they admit it is nothing more than a rumor. How do you think Moeller and his wife would feel about it, not to mention Les, especially when its not true? In defense of Les and the Moellers I will post what I know (not think but know) is the real reason Les and Carr do not get along. Les and Bill McCartney (former UM DC and Colorado head coach) coached together at Michigan and were very close friends. Carr was an assistant at the time as well. Carr had an affair with McCartney's brother's wife. (google Carr and if you dig enough you will see that his wife's name was McCartney, I did). This caused a huge rift between McCartney and Carr with Miles standing alongside his friend McCartney. Obviously when Carr got the head job it was time for Les to leave, which he did on his own. I also knew Les quite well back in college. He was not the type who would have done something like that. The people that I know that are still close to him and who live in AA are quite certain where the rumor started. Interesting, isn't it, that the rumor happened to surface just at the time Carr retired and Les was the logical choice for the job?

Hard to believe that I'm reading so much crazy shit here about Carr, who is a heck of a good guy (and yes I've met him).

It's obvious that Carr wanted to let the Michigan family and Harbaugh know he'd not only be on board with the potential hire, he'd be happy if it happened.

It's also obvious that, as a Michigan insider, he thinks a deal with Harbaugh is possible, at least as of yesterday.

So he put it out there. Good move. Patience, grasshoppers!

If Carr, Griese, Hutch and other Michigan Football icons are all privately / publicly supporting this coach search, it shows they care and want to help get things right in AA. (Great for Jim Harbaugh OR whomever leads football when the hiring decision is final)

I hope more of the old guard come out and continue to show support, it’s an exciting time and there is hope we will be a stronger football team going forward.

Hopefully it’s Coach Jim H. That would be a compelling and a powerful move.
