I had to put this at the top and I hope people take a look. Everyone keeps comparing Denard to Pat White and even though Pat was an incredible college QB I think there is someone much better and who Denard resembles. I really don't know who is faster. They both have rocket arms and have trouble with touch and both are insanely fast. A think this is a much better comparison. A real defense:

Holy Hell. I never thought about him. Everyone always compares him to Pat White because that was RR's last QB who ran his offense and destroyed teams. He does look a lot more like Vick. If he can be like Vick than we will own the Big Ten. I hope Denard has a different view on dogs, though.

What scares me is that our ends do not defend this play very well and they see it everyday in practice!!! How can we run a line slant/stunt to the inside where the end basically takes himself out of the play and we do not have any LB / DB in position to back them up for outside containment? This play should be addressed in Defense 101 and handled just like defensive assignments given to players for an option based offense (you take dive, another guys takes QB, another guy takes the pitch man, etc). Scary that we are making our defense "simpler" and fundamental assignments and play awareness are in need of significant improvement....

that we can finally stop asking him to change positions. He could be a sick college QB. Alternate him with some Tate so that they stay fresh, and watch out now BCS once our D shapes up.

your enthusiasm, lets wait to see Denard on the field before we start chanting BCS BCS lol that was my angel side HAAA I agree 100% Denard shall destroy everyone with his blazing speed. I laugh at the notion of any player catching him on the field GAME OVER BITCHES denard allll day that was the devil side

Awesome! Multiple +1s. Visual corroboration of what I was trying to say here: http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/there-legitimate-hope-year#comment-468784 On at least two of those runs when DR was "down" by contact, I think he would have scored at game speed. Since with DR touch does NOT equal TACKLE. What I really noticed watching was his quick release and accurate passing. Also, the way he pulls the ball down and runs, and the natural way he finds a crease and is through it before the D knows what happened. This will raise the volume in the Big House to new levels. Rawk not necessary!

Yikes, total oversight on my part for that -- this is why you shouldn't edit videos while also trying to study for exams. I'm re-editing the video and that play will certainly be included. As will Christopher Walken, of course.

where he rolls out with a flat option, an option to run, and a few downfield options as well are nasty. You really can't stop that, and if he keeps throwing the ball to open guys in the regular season he will be hard to stop. I honestly like DRob over Tate right now, and last year I would have never said that. I am officialy drinking the DRob kool-aid! GO BLUE!!!

Denard also had a couple of great ball fakes in there. If he can "sell" the hand-off to the defense, U of M can go far with this kid. Juice Williams used to have some of the best ball fakes. If Denard can get to that level watch out!

Every time I see him fumble the ball and take it to the house against Western, I just can't help myself from grinning like a child in a candy store. Absolutely unbelievable!

Named his top schools......Michigan State is his favorite, and he didn't even mention Michigan....awesome. Here's his quote, "Michigan State is my slight leader right now," Arnett said. "I have been over there a lot lately and I saw their spring game and saw a lot of the things that I wanted to see. Cal and Tennessee are two of the teams in my top seven, along with Notre Dame and USC." -It doesn't say which teams round out his top 7, Michigan might be in there, but it would have been nice to actually hear him say it....shit

There was an obnoxious troll tying up several threads. Looks like he didn't just get banhammered, he got expunged. All his posts have been removed. Well played Mods. Reminds me of "The Ten Commandments" when Ramses banishes Moses to the desert, declaring "He will be erased from the histories!" Of course, this doesn't mean I'm comparing Moses to a troll, because trolls are assholes and Moses is well...obviously.

This coming year is exciting as ever. However, I am much more excited for the following year. If Denard performs well and wins the job this year then 2011 will be a highlight film.

Yes, the video was during a limited contact spring game against fairly crappy defense, but Denard looked really good. His throws were accurate, his reads were good and his fake was great. I also liked that on a bunch of the slants and short stuff, the passes were leading the receivers. Over the past two years, one aspect of our game that has frustrated me was watching our receivers have to slow down or reach behind them for a pass which, if thrown 1/2 a step AHEAD of the receiver (particularly on the slants) would allow the receiver to catch the ball at close to full speed and perhaps turn a corner or pick up even an extra yard or so. Yes, the hype machine will obvious go too far and start printing the Denard for 2010, 2011 and 2012 Heisman T-Shirts now, but I really do think that this kid has some really good upside potential, and may give our offense - which is still young and lacking in deapth at a few spots - a real chance to put up a bunch of points.

Denard is easily my favorite wolverine. I, however, align more with those who are cautiously, even skeptically, optimistic. I will keep the excitement in check until we face a defense that is 1) workmanlike and 2) not Michigan (that this offense has not been facing for several spring practices in a row). We should not set up Denard for too big a fall before he as a chance to really prove himself, to build a solid foundation of actual game experience to stand on. He still has a lot to learn, a lot of game-time, crunch-time experience to gain.

Nightmares I tells ya... we're gonna give some teams nightmares. nightmare: An extremely frightening dream. An event or experience that is intensely distressing.
