The always interesting article about why you did or didn't choose the instate school or either instate school.

The level of ignorance regarding this topic is pretty stunning. I am not an expert here...have recruited for college just enough to make me dangerous...but enough to know that pretty much everyone here is as clueless as the day is long. But don't let me stop you from throwing your (pathetic) crap against the wall. We have a very strong northwest wind out here in Kansas today and most of you are not endangering us...

So, do we all finally understand that Harbaugh is looking for a certain kind/ type of player that always doesn’t = rivals/ 247 rankings?

Incidentally, the staff didn't go 0-4 on the top prospects. The list is whack. Mazi is #4 in the composite. The same composite has Barnhart at #7, and he isn't even on the list in the article (click the link and he's 17).
The other points are valid enough, but above are some alternative facts. 2 of the top 7 is better than 1 of the top 15, right? (FWIW, MSU had 2 of the top 9 in the composite)
Also, of all the comments, the one I wanted to hear more about was Mangham, who simply said "Michigan was a no". What does that mean? Didn't want to be labeled as a pipeline kid and just wanted to make a name for himself? Or they said no to him? Or what?
Yes, most fans are upset about Brown, Barnett and Dixon as they could see all 3 being good fits. As for Dobbs, there are so many contradicting reports on how good he actually is or will be. I don't necessarily have to look through maize colored glasses to think he may have hit his ceiling and will struggle against college competition. Time will tell.

Michigan never offered Mangham. So I'd say that explains it right there.

I'm surprised it took so long for someone to note the flawed composition of the list. Ruke Orhorhoro at #9 and no Barnhart makes for a questionable list. In 3 or 4 years we'll know whether Jones, Rumler, Keegan and Barnhart were bigger wins than Brown and Dobbs.

This thread disrespects me.

The best players in Michigan go to Michigan... unless there is no room in the class because we got better ones. Better luck next year!

Julian Barnett choosing MSU because Michigan didn't offer him until his junior year might be the dumbest reason for choosing one school over another that I've ever heard. This kid is a flat out moron. Dumber than a plate of milk.

Not sure why it's dumb when Harbaugh is out here offering 7th graders. Recruiting is happening earlier and earlier. MSU beat UM to the punch. Be mad at the staff not at Barnett.

The 6'7" two-sport guy is interesting. I'm sure the football team has visions of a left tackle in their head. But he almost certainly can't bulk up like that as a baseball player (CC Sabathia notwithstanding). So either he's a TE or stand-up situational rush end and still plays baseball (which it sounds like he really wants to be playing) or gives up baseball and gets bulked up?

First off...major props to the state sending 15 kids to power 5 programs. Secondly, whew! There was major shade thrown towards are program from these players.

Out of the 15 people polled in the article, only 1 liked Michigan enough to go there. So I'm not at all surprised it's negative towards Michigan. I guess we can debate which kids Michigan actually wanted and missed on and which kids they passed on, but in the end, to use the management/company analogy above, it's a bunch of people who either quit or were fired bitching about how they were treated wrongly.
I will add this though, the kids who signed with MSU were not the ones talking shit about Michigan, it was mostly the kids going out of state.

It remains that two of the humans' greatest faults are the inability to self-assess and the ability to rationalize. Here, 17 and 18 year olds will surely epitomize this reality. It is too bad the adults in the room further exacerbate this reality.
