ACE: Michigan offers '13 OL Logan Tuley-Tillman
Just got a text from 2013 Peoria (IL) Manual OL Logan Tuley-Tillman, who said that he's just been offered a full scholarship from Michigan. Tuley-Tillman is a 6'7", 280-pound junior who project as a tackle at the next level, and he had early offers from Mizzou, Illinois, and Indiana. When I talked to him a couple weeks ago, here's what he had to say about potentially being offered:
ACE: How would a Michigan offer affect your recruitment?
LOGAN: I think that would shake up the whole landscape, and I'm pretty sure they would skyrocket to number one, just from what I've seen and the relationship I have with Coach Funk.
He's obviously in class now, but I'll see if I can talk to him further in the very near future. It sounds like Michigan is in great position with him.

Great news! Good job Ace you are all over the class of 2013!

When he receieved the offer, said it was the best day of his life.

Where did you hear this?

Is that a good sign? /s

My acceptance letter to Michigan brought tears to my eyes as well, I was really pulling for the community college down the street to admit me.

Do you think you'll be able to see their new scoreboards from your house, or no?
December 14th, 2011 at 12:43 PM ^
Gotta love the coaches trying to build OL depth

We don't need a 5 star RB. I could run behind the O-lineman we have been recruiting. A good offensive line creates great RB's, unless of course you are Barry Sanders.
December 14th, 2011 at 12:48 PM ^
Any more info on David Perkins? I know michigan offered/is interested in him. Seems like an all around great athlete.
December 14th, 2011 at 12:57 PM ^
I don't know much about him other than what's popped up in the last 24 hours or so, but I'm in full support of Michigan taking a productive four-star athlete—especially a 6'2, 210-pound productive four-star athlete—and bringing him in as a running back if they can land him.
December 14th, 2011 at 1:26 PM ^
Wisconsin hasn't had a 5 star RB that I can remember, but they regularly have "star" RBs who rack up huge numbers running behind consistently powerful OLs. A stud RB is a nice plus, but a good one running behind a great line will do just fine.
December 14th, 2011 at 4:45 PM ^
Well no, they haven't had any five-star RBs, but it's not like they've had chopped liver. Montee Ball and John Clay were 4* recruits. I'll give you P.J. Hill, though.

He looks great on film.

Hey, that's a nice new picture, Ace!
Coach Hoke disapproves of your red shirt, though.
December 14th, 2011 at 1:18 PM ^
Ha, thanks—finally was able to upload a pic. It's not gonna fly if I say the shirt is maroon, is it?
December 14th, 2011 at 1:37 PM ^
Did you go to Glam shots by Deb?
December 14th, 2011 at 2:09 PM ^
Just asking.
All kidding aside, keep up the great work. Really appreciate all the updates you are doing and info you're providing!

Hahaha the new shirt looks good.

I KID!

I like it. I think it is there for the taking. Illinois and NW or rather mediocre and we should beat them out for every recruit. The problem is ND. There are so many ND fans from Illinois and it is rather annoying. I am from Chicago and there are random ND fans all over the place. Whatever, lets make some inroads!
December 14th, 2011 at 1:26 PM ^
ND is huge in Peoria, but at least on the basketball side, Manual is a huge U of Illinios pipeline. In the late nineties, there were 3 Peoria Manual guys starting on the Illinois basketball team - Illinois answer to the Flintstones. The former coach of Manual (McClain) is an assistant at U of I.
December 14th, 2011 at 1:39 PM ^
I remember those days when Manual won 4 straight state titles, starting with Sergio McClain's freshman year. I believe the others were Marcus Griffin and Frankie Williams. The late 90's/first few years of the 2000's produced some great HS basketball in IL.
December 14th, 2011 at 2:15 PM ^
McClain the elder left shortly after those state championships to coach at U of I and I think he is still there.
December 14th, 2011 at 1:44 PM ^
Is that a concern or is he just an under-the-radar sort of player?
December 14th, 2011 at 2:03 PM ^
This early in the process—with so many players still to be evaluated on their junior film—I'd take the rankings (or lack of) with an extra-large grain of salt. At this point a better measure of a player is probably their offer/interest lists, and Logan's already got four early offers from Midwest schools and interest from Boise State, Notre Dame, and Tennessee, among others. Given the fact that he was just getting his film out over the last couple weeks, that's pretty solid.
December 14th, 2011 at 2:13 PM ^
At 16 and 6'7'' 280 not much to rate, shit, I could rate that. He is already in the top 99 percentile for size of a human being.
December 14th, 2011 at 2:24 PM ^
showed very good strength/drive at point of attack and reasonably good technique for a HS junior, but did not reveal much in terms of how his footwork is in open space and pass-pro. Do not recall much of him in the second level or on pulls, nor do I recall any zone blocking. Most of what I recall was downblocking on an much smaller end.
If I recall his film, particularly on pass plays - dude didnt have to move much, the fleas on the other team just couldnt get around him, so it was really hard to evaluate. The coaches on the board could probably gleen alot more than I could, but just not much on there to be able get a great picture. What he did on film was very good, but just not sure you can see enough skill set to really get an idea. Think his combine work will be really relvealing.
He is an AAU level basketball player - he played with Amarah Darboh, so expect that his agility is pretty good. Even bigs at AAU level of basketball typically have pretty good footwork and agility. Dont know if he still plays hoops, but Manual is top-level basketball program.

making that shirt blue, Ace!
December 14th, 2011 at 2:46 PM ^
Ha, thanks. Judging by the reaction here and on Twitter, it had to be done. Hoke uber alles.
December 14th, 2011 at 3:37 PM ^
Sounds like we could have our 3rd commit in the 2013 class pretty soon. Ace has he mentioned when a decision could be made? I know it is super early but he seems like he could be a candidate for an early decision.
December 14th, 2011 at 4:01 PM ^
Forgot to ask about his timeline when I talked to him a couple weeks ago, but I'll see if I can get in touch with him soon—that will be one of the first things I have to ask him.
December 14th, 2011 at 5:53 PM ^
Any kid that has tears when Michigan admits him is ok in my book.
December 14th, 2011 at 5:56 PM ^
Who is that really nerdy looking guy in Ace's picture? Kind of looks like a young Jeff Goldblum.
December 14th, 2011 at 6:14 PM ^
Fuck Jeff Goldblum.
December 14th, 2011 at 8:56 PM ^
Ace, I was just wondering if you know anything new with Michael Hutchings. He is one of the players i Like the most in the 2013 class and I remember hearing there was heavy mutual interest. Also, do you have any idea if Michigan will offer Jalin Marshall- he is expected to be a heavy OSU lean but i haven't heard if he likes or dislikes the hiring of Urban Meyer.
December 16th, 2011 at 2:17 AM ^
He just tweeted rather excitedly that Urban Meyer made him an offer :(
