The Michigan Wolverines football team added another piece to the defensive side of their 2024 recruiting class today in getting a commitment from 4* EDGE Dominic Nichols

Nichols hails from Ijamsville, MD, and attends Oakdale HS. The 6'5", 240 lb. EDGE had interest from Penn State and Wisconsin as well as Michigan, but the Maize & Blue held off the other suitors to pick up Nichols. As it currently stands, Nichols ranks 433rd in the 247 composite, ranked (narrowly) as a 4* prospect. Nichols is now the second pure EDGE in Michigan's 2024 class, joining Devon Baxter, who committed on Monday. Further targets at the position include Jacob Smith and Elias Rudolph, both of whom could/should be making decisions in the near future.

Nichols will get his Hello this week. There is no content after the jump.

what's his comp?

after investing a whole 60 seconds in watching his film he doesn't seem to have the explosion/quickness on the snap, he sort of stands up. Of course that can be improved through coaching. And he has some nice long-stride speed.

Seems to have the frame to gain some good weight and maybe slide inside a bit?

Caveat, I have no fucking clu what I'm talking about. But I'm willing to learn.

If a kid is playing on the edge at 240 in high school, I'd assume he's going to become a Mike Morris type in an ideal scenario. That comp has been overused recently--some guys Michigan recruits are in fact DTs, not "3-techs" or whatever the term is--but it's what I'd imagine the staff is thinking here

If M had a Nichols for every edge commit, they’d. . . uh. . . have. . . a Nichols.

Look, I thought something was there, okay? The only other idea was to call him Nic-Nic but I figured he might break me in half.
