I'm sure I forgot a potential or 2, feel free to add them. Overall a VERY defensive class. Not sure why we wouldn't offer Lucien as a WR since he would be a sure commitment, but I'll trust the coaches. Hopefully BH can pull a rabit out of a hat on signing day and give us at least 1 big name recruit, preferably at DT or S. Not a terrible class considering we can only take 20 or 21 commitments and our latest coaching debacle. I look forward to defensive recruiting next year when Mr. Mattison has a full season to recruit.

But I think you meant Raymon Taylor and Devin Lucien...also Jake Fisher seems to be slipping away.

Good Call.

At Cardale Jones. Could only help with Glenville down the road and he might be the most solid QB in the area who is not committed.
January 20th, 2011 at 9:56 AM ^
To my knowledge we're still recruiting Cardale, but grades remain an issue.
January 20th, 2011 at 10:38 AM ^
First, we can add Tamani Carter to the committed list now (HaZaah!)
Also, as far as a QB, if you watch Tamani's scouting video it looks like he had a half way decent QB throwing him the ball. Not sure who he is, but he looked like he ran a pretty sound (pro-style) offense.
January 20th, 2011 at 9:49 AM ^
I would move Jake Fisher to the longshots catagory and the 3 longshot guys to a new catagory called "No shot".
January 20th, 2011 at 9:56 AM ^
Should we rename the commitment list money shots?
January 20th, 2011 at 12:34 PM ^
Why is everyone so down on us getting Fisher? I thought all the Sparty insiders thought he was going to wind up picking Michigan in the end.
January 20th, 2011 at 9:50 AM ^
were as probable as the word probable indicates
January 20th, 2011 at 9:53 AM ^
I think the previous staff was recruiting Jack Miller for the OL. I wonder if he stays at DT now with no other DT's in this class?
January 20th, 2011 at 9:53 AM ^
they're pursuing chris barnett even though he's a arkansas commit, but if that falls through, frank clark will be decent
January 20th, 2011 at 9:56 AM ^
Because of his size but Dustin Keller is only 6'2" and he is doing quite well for himself.
January 20th, 2011 at 10:18 AM ^
They're talking about Clark at LB. He's got good speed and athleticism; he might be good there.
January 20th, 2011 at 11:25 AM ^
But if we strike out on TE's he could/should get a look.
January 20th, 2011 at 9:54 AM ^
It sounds like Fisher is going to E. Lansing, we need to remind him of another 6' 7" OT we had that was drafted #1 overall a few years ago. A little Hokus Pocus the last couple weeks and we will finish strong by signing day.

To be much more favorable to UM next year. I think it's safe to say that this recruting class won't be as good as we hope and need it to be but that the 2012 class will be much better.

I feel sick...

wiped my ass with it, and now it looks better.

Flowers, Bryant, Taylor, Clark and Frost. I don't know why on Frost just think he goes Blue.

DUDE THE FROST SHIP HAS SAILED, GIVE IT UP.
January 20th, 2011 at 10:20 AM ^
Krist Frost is not coming to Michigan, neither is Anthony Zettel, nor Darian Cooper, etc.
Let's move on already.

Long shots that have been talked to:
DT Travarris Saulsberry (6'4", 252 lbs, 3 Star, Florida)
DE Jordan Williams (6'4", 240 lbs, 3 Star, Florida)
OL Pat Flavin (6'7", 260 lbs, 3 Star, Illinois)
OG Aundrey Walker (6'6", 355 lbs, 4 Star, Ohio)
DE Anthony Zettel (6'4", 255, 4 Star, Michigan)
LB Anthony Wallace(6'0", 220, 4 Star, Texas)
DT Delvon Simmons (6'5", 262, 5 Star, Pennsylvania)
OLB Branden Jackson (6'4" 225, 4 Star, Pennsylvania)
DT Tim Jernigan (6'2", 275, 5 Star, Florida)
DT Christian Heyward (6'3", 266, 4 Star, California)
Since recruiting ends in just a couple of weeks, I have found myself doing quite a bit of googlestalking. While I'm not an insider and don't subscribe to premium sites, I have kept track of names that have been mentioned here and elsewhere.

I like our chances with Matt Wile. Sam Webb has an article on him in today's Detroit News highlighting that his family has deep ties to Michigan:
"My dad attended medical school at Michigan and he was the fourth generation to go to Michigan," Wile said. "My dad, my grandfather, my great-grandfather, and my great-great-grandfather all went to Michigan's medical school and they were all doctors."
Wile is also considering Nebraska and Air Force and will be on an official visit to Michigan this weekend:
"I'm not against committing on the visit, but I probably will not because I'll probably want to come home and talk it over with my family," he said. "I've always said for me it is going to (come down to) education first and then coaching staff. Then after that it would be the program itself because it is a lot more fun to win than it is to lose."

this class is making me sad.
January 20th, 2011 at 11:08 AM ^
Did you just wake up from a coma? If you are "sad" now, what were you when all the decommits were happening? Suicidal?
January 20th, 2011 at 11:16 AM ^
hoping the new staff would magically pull some more 4/5* guys from their butts. They haven't, therefore...sadness!
January 20th, 2011 at 11:31 AM ^
But I'm still hopin Hoke can get some surprise commits in the next few weeks. Carter was a good surprise and hopefully he can be a good role player in the next few years. Or well just get nobody else and then we can all drink our sorrows away
January 20th, 2011 at 11:32 AM ^
I guess you can add Tamani Carter to your committed list.
January 20th, 2011 at 11:33 AM ^
KJ's dad, Sean, wanted my to alert the mgosphere that there are new game videos of him posted

I believe we had a maximum of 7 slots left. I would be a little surprised if we did get a full 18 commitments, but for the sake of this post let's say we do.
On offense, I would say Byrant, Flowers, and Wlie (I don't want to create a special teams catergory just for him) will commit.
On defense, my guess would be McClure, Taylor, Kitchen and Clark will commit. I know that is one of the worse classes we have ever had (according to various inconsistent recuirting sites). But we get those 7 guys I can't be mad at Hoke. 3 more four-stars with a few highly rated 3-stars (ie Flowers). Not an ideal class, but I think it's something that can be worked with.
January 20th, 2011 at 2:02 PM ^
whether we get those guys or not.
January 20th, 2011 at 2:15 PM ^
I will be surprised if we don't get 20 commits. We have room depending on 5th years brought back and I'm sure Hoke wants to get as many of his guys in the program as possible.
January 20th, 2011 at 11:45 AM ^
Does anybody have a Countess update? I know that his in home was yesterday wondering if there is any news on his commitment status?
January 20th, 2011 at 12:14 PM ^
After the visit, he posted on Twitter "those who stay will be champions."
January 20th, 2011 at 12:46 PM ^
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that's a good sign
thanks for the info
