Ravens bracing for D coordinator Greg Mattison to leave for U of Michigan. Secondary coach Chuck Pagano would replace him
Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Greg Mattison is expected to go the University of Michigan as their new defensive coordinator, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation.

Like a fan that turns is back on his team because they don't follow the codes and specs HE think they should. No offense but I think they'll be fine without you. I hear theres room on that green piece of crap bandwagon. Grab your ski mask and hitch a ride.
I don't care if those doucheknuckles from the Jersey Shore were coaching Michigan, I could NEVER turn my back on this program.
Happy trails buddy

FUCK YOU!!!!

But I never understand this reaction from fans. Mattison didn't go to or play for U-M. I can see Lloyd getting pissed, but what fan wouldn't leave their job for more pay and free tuition for their kids? I mean, if you worked for Ford, and GM offered you a raise and to give all your kids free cars, you wouldn't take it?

It will be interesting to see what base defense he installs. The Ravens are really a hybrid 3-4 team that runs a lot of 4-3 looks.

Hoke is dominating the world. This is a huge hire and we should see some immediate benefits in both recruiting and on field success. Nice work Brady.
January 18th, 2011 at 6:53 PM ^
Hoke's magic wand has shaken off the dust (Tom Brady), now maybe Frost, McClure, Raven, Jalil, Taylor, any combo would be great
January 18th, 2011 at 6:41 PM ^
I have a good feeling about the 2011 season. But first, let's stop bleeding recruits. Go Blue.

Nothing on ESPN, glad to see they are on top of things.

ESPN will get to it tomarrow, They got more importnet things to worry about like Lebron and Crosby you do realize they are both hurt right, well if i didn't there's a few articles on ESPN about it.

Hopefully he's the man to get our defense back on track.

Chuck Pagano is taking over for Mattison in Baltimore. I can tell you this: on the NFL level, the Ravens defensive players weren't really enamored with Mattison, but many of them had extreme loyalty to Rex Ryan and would have been disappointed with whomever ended up with the job in Baltimore. (My stepdad has worked for the Ravens/Browns since 1990 and I've been a ballboy for the Ravens for 9 years.)
I kind of wonder if he's going to bring Andy Moeller with him... just thinking aloud.

January 18th, 2011 at 6:54 PM ^
...shit on anyone's Cheerios, but can someone tell me why this is such a great hire? I'm talking from an X's and O's standpoint. I know he was D Coordinator of the Ravens, but IT'S THE FREAKING RAVENS. They were great before he got there. Did he do anything scheme wise or was he just a caretaker of the defense?
I don't have a problem with the hire, but I was wondering if someone could shed some light on what he'll bring besides the immediate death to the 3-3-5.
January 18th, 2011 at 6:56 PM ^
He was in a no win situation in Baltimore with the departure of Rex Ryan.
January 18th, 2011 at 6:56 PM ^
I think ppl are just glad we hired SOMEONE and that it's not a shmoe off the street, but someone with M ties from the NFL.
