Site Improvement: Brian pls read
This is a question for Brian, but I'd like everyone to view it.
With the recent ground-shaking change in our program, site traffic exploded and mgoblog went into a slightly-altered shell to weather the storm. User log-ins limited, and the site slowing up at times.
At a time like this, I feel it is most important for people to be able to log on, and express their opinions. My question to Brian is, can we as users, do anything to help improve the site?
In other words, if it takes money to upgrade the traffic this site can handle, I will gladly pitch in a few hundred (I probably should have done so by now anyway).
I hope that others will do the same, and pitch in whatever they can.

...money thrown at a blog that centers around Michigan football will certainly become a catalyst for an NCAA investigation.

does everyone's opinion really need to be heard? as far as i can tell, there are only about 3 of them and strangely, i really didn't miss being able to read or voice mine constantly over the past week.

if someone tells me who got to Brian on this brady hoke thing. :)
we were promised profanity-laden posts, as he promised multiple times, in colums, on the liveblog, in posts, that if brady hoke was the guy he'd 'lose his shit'.
everything out of him seems pretty...tame.
???
this is in no way attacking brian's credibility, if it comes across like that. more like i'm sitting here thinking of the best ways to appease the fanbase and get everyone together, and having the biggest voice m-fing the choice to hell wouldn't obviously do that.

He was in Stage 2 of the Kubler-Ross model of grief, and has moved on to 4/5.

but he's making it pretty obvious that he hates the hire. Backhanded, snide remarks can go a long way.
e.g. "In other news, the media is tickling Hokes belly"

I don't miss the 250+ long threads though. Although it did simplify the side bar and keep the site cleaner it was a mess to navigate through.

I'm tired. The blog is already closing ranks around Hoke (he had a good press conference therefore he MUST be an awesome coach) and negging anybody who suggests otherwise.

What do you expect everyone here to do? I was as vocal as anyone about wanting a spread guy, and to be honest, I probably have more respect for every species of reptile on the planet than I do for David Brandon, but Brady Hoke deserves the same consideration that I or anyone else here wanted for RR when he was the head coach.
What good is it going to do to attack Brady Hoke? If anyone treats Hoke like shit because they didn't get their guy, they are just as guilty as those who treated RR like shit. Worse yet, anyone who treats Hoke like shit becase it was wrong that RR got treated like shit would epitomize hypocrisy.
I didn't get any of "my guys." But I refuse to stoop to the level to which the Carr-tel stooped when RR was the coach. Being a fan doesn't mean one has to agree with the hire. But it does mean that one should give the new head coach of the football program the same four years RR should have been given.
I don't know about you, but unless something extraordinarily stupid happens to the program, I am giving Hoke a four-year exemption from bullshit. If that constitutes "closing ranks," so be it. But I really don't think trashing Brady Hoke will do anything positive for the program.

sir, thank you, and +1.
Man, it's good to be logged in again!!!!!
Edit: In the event of a future crash, is there any way to let people log in that have a certain point threshold, or something like that, so we can all get important info/opinions from respected "vets" of the blog in case they don't have the iphone app or whatever some people were using to log in when i couldn't???
January 12th, 2011 at 10:32 PM ^
iphones ARE issued to all "vets"; it's one of those 5000 pt. perks.

Well said. It's time to support the team, and that means supporting the coach until it is otherwise proven that he shouldn't be supported. The players think of themselves and each other as a family and they're trying to stay together. Let's help them do that.

Should be reserved for flights of fancy and tortured logic and EMO whining, not opinions intelligently expressed just because you don't agree with them.
We hope Hoke will be a good coach for us, but we really will not know until a few years down the road. I would have thought that we would have all figured that one out by now given the past 3 years.......
