Srsly, a BR tv station was supposedly sending a crew to see who gets on or off the plane. Waiting for word on whether they were successful.

JMO but thats a lot of fuel and $$ to be burning up unless something significant is happening.
leads me to think this is not just a trivial visit

Hmmmm... Interesting.
January 10th, 2011 at 4:46 PM ^
that's a double wow
January 10th, 2011 at 4:22 PM ^
Our helmets have wings.
January 10th, 2011 at 4:24 PM ^
is dead. Dominos will need to recoup fuel costs. Thanks a lot DB!
January 10th, 2011 at 4:26 PM ^
"No.....there is another!"
January 10th, 2011 at 4:33 PM ^
Hoke's sister?
January 10th, 2011 at 4:32 PM ^
Many times....and it's telling in that it tells us nothing.
January 10th, 2011 at 4:33 PM ^
I haven't seen that, but it's a hell of a lot more telling than his press conference today, which was pretty much gibberish.
January 10th, 2011 at 4:35 PM ^
Man, that seems very telling. Interesting that it caught him off guard as he had to have known that question was coming.
January 10th, 2011 at 4:44 PM ^
Haha, where's his PR guy? He would have told him: unless your signature is on the Michigan contract, just lie and say you'll be back, then later say that the circumstances changed.
January 10th, 2011 at 5:56 PM ^
He is so goofy.
January 10th, 2011 at 4:27 PM ^
I can't wait until this is over. I have so much other stuff to do.
January 10th, 2011 at 4:29 PM ^
I now have people 2 levels below asking for stuff I was going to get them by last week. Bad enough with just the higher ups now I am in the gossip pool.
January 10th, 2011 at 4:32 PM ^
If you lose your job, you could always sue the university on the grounds that DB took way too long to make a decision, causing you undue stress and thus loss of wages.
January 10th, 2011 at 4:53 PM ^
If I could.
January 10th, 2011 at 4:36 PM ^
You know dang well you'll be on here hashing out every aspect of the new coaches' philosophy, the specifics of the transition, the heated up recruiting, and then signing day. Just like everyone else on here. All that will take us to the second week in February. Think about how many sub-issues of sub- issues in each of those categories exist to have threads on.
So go and inform your loved ones and employers the harsh reality of the life you lead as stated by Saint Dantonio: "This isn't over. It will never be over."
January 10th, 2011 at 4:44 PM ^
Twice yesterday, I swore off this site.
January 10th, 2011 at 4:38 PM ^
Classes start up again for me next tuesday and I really hope DB announces a coach before then. I would hate to skip the first week of classes lol.
January 10th, 2011 at 4:33 PM ^
Lyvonia "Stump" Mitchell, head coach of Southern University and A&M College will be named Michigan's new head coach. Dave Brandon, you are one sneaky bastard.

I would prefer Gruden but if its The Mad Hatter I am ok with it just get it over.
January 10th, 2011 at 4:31 PM ^
If turns out to be a smokesscreen, and Hoke is the mystery man, then I propose (right now) that his nickname be "the groundhog".
As in "when Michigan fans first saw the groundhog, there were 4 more weeks of constant binge drinking".
January 10th, 2011 at 4:39 PM ^
He's not too far from being the Hedgehog
January 10th, 2011 at 4:31 PM ^
but do you think we have a shot at this LSU recruit, Spencer Ware?
January 10th, 2011 at 4:32 PM ^
He's already on the LSU roster.
January 10th, 2011 at 4:41 PM ^
There's been loads of speculation online about what went on between Miles, MSC, and Villechaize and how it impacts his chances at landing the Michigan job. Can anyone confirm or deny?
January 10th, 2011 at 4:35 PM ^
Make it rain!
January 10th, 2011 at 4:40 PM ^
My life is MGoBlog and Flightaware. I really hope we hear something by Wed.
January 10th, 2011 at 4:41 PM ^
I know many people have doubts about Miles, and I know where everyone is coming from. When it comes to X's and O's, however, this may be the best choice Michigan has. There is quite a bit of magical thinking involved in assuming Michigan can just turn back to POWERFOOTBALL with the talent currently on scholarship. For this reason, Hoke and H****** were not great ideas, and seem more motivated by passion and nostalgia than anything else. (H****** would have been great for unifying the fan base, but that plane crashed into the mountain.)
Miles is a masterful delegator, and will assemble the staff that fits the talent Michigan has on scholarship.
January 10th, 2011 at 4:44 PM ^
But I do agree that Les Miles and "magical thinking" appear to go hand in hand if his on-field antics and public comments are any indication.
January 10th, 2011 at 5:05 PM ^
"on-field antics and public comments" are not X's and O's. I am speaking only of the teams he has assembled and led.
The "magical thinking" I had in mind is thinking that the "right" hire will allow Michigan to play the type of football we all grew up with, when the players we have on scholarship are fit for a different system.
January 10th, 2011 at 5:12 PM ^
I just like getting all my "Les Miles is insane and/or a superhuman sex addict" jokes out of the way before he actually becomes the head coach.
January 10th, 2011 at 5:14 PM ^
The Michigan football I grew up on had running QB's like Franklin, Slade, Leach, Steve Smith, BJ Dickey, etc. So, nothing wrong with having a Denard as a running and throwing QB in terms of Michigan tradition.......
January 10th, 2011 at 5:36 PM ^
True, but if Ufer's broadcasts could be trusted, Franklin, et al. lined up behind "two tight ends and a balanced line"...
January 10th, 2011 at 5:48 PM ^
...to knock folks off the LOS and open holes
January 10th, 2011 at 4:49 PM ^
Per what appears to be someone's twitter from the coaching convention in Dallas:
"Just talked with Dave Brandon. if his travel works out, he will announce the next Michigan head coach at the 5 pm coaches happy hour."
It's just shy of 4pm in Dallas.
He just landed in BR... Draw your own conclusions.
January 10th, 2011 at 4:53 PM ^
I am calling BS.
January 10th, 2011 at 4:53 PM ^
He suggests the anouncement will be made at his own party (it becomes clearer that Coach's Happy Hour is something that this guy is hosting himself if you look at one of his other tweets)
January 10th, 2011 at 4:56 PM ^
Yeah. It's almost certainly BS. Doubt he would announce an hour before the title game as well.
January 10th, 2011 at 4:59 PM ^
It certainly wouldn't hurt the Michigan brand to be discussed with a positive, big-name hire during the championsip game. Then again, if it's Hoke, not so much...
January 10th, 2011 at 5:54 PM ^
...announcing our new coach in 10 minutes? great. I'm 100% positive that will happen just as Mr. "premier source for coaching job information" says it will. Thank God we have been alerted to this unquestionable font of definitive CC knowledge
/snark
January 10th, 2011 at 4:55 PM ^
But this coaching convention sounds awesome.
January 10th, 2011 at 5:02 PM ^
Is that you?

Yes I realize that I probably spelled his name wrong but he's not that important. That or I don't care. You choose.
January 10th, 2011 at 4:47 PM ^
I mean, the guy has just won and won, and I believe he's only lost one out of conference game since being at LSU.
How anyone can say he'd be a bad choice is beyond me. Great recruiter, great on the field results.
I get the complaints about oversigning, but that can't happen in the B1G. I hope we get him, and in fact, I think he's a better choice than JH was, despite how popular JH would have been.
This guy simply wins and wins in what, the toughest of all conferences? I think he's an upgrade of massive proportions from anyone we've had in a long time, even Lloyd. And I love Lloyd.
