This is a good trade for the Tigers. Especially because we didn't have to include Turner or Nick C. in the deal. I really didn't want to give up our two brightest prospects for anyone. What the Rockies were asking for Jiminez is flat out ridiculous. I'm not sure I would trade Turner-Porcello-Boesch for King Felix! Fister doesn't have the greatest win loss stats for Seattle 3-12, but honestly, how can you win with such a poor team. He does have a 3.33 era, which is pretty good by all accounts. I'm happy we solitified our 3rd or 4th starter in the rotation. Hopefully, Porcello continues to pitch like he did last night and Brad Penny does a little better the remainder of the season. Good work Dave Dombrowski and hopefully this trade sparks a run!
|07/17/2011 - 3:39pm||nil-nil @ half||
USA has had multiple chances to put one in the back. Shots haven't missed by much. Good defensive pressure has led to breakouts for Cheney/Wamback. If USA continues to keep possesion I would expect this to go our way in the second half.

Apparently the guy's got 6 toes! Link
|04/12/2011 - 1:16pm||Very good list||
Hopefully the weekend starts off right commits from Ringer and Thompson. No mentions of Danny Obrien or Matt Godin is a little odd. However, this list of guys is impressive and i'm exited to see how this class turns out.

|01/10/2011 - 5:29pm||Jordan Morgan||
I have been really surprised with Morgans development thus far, and I don't think anyone expected him to be playing as well as he has. However, Morgan needs to develop playing with his back to the basket, becoming more comfortbale with the ball at the top of the key, and learning how to stay on the court and away from foul trouble.

I spotted him sitting near the alumni band. Unfortunately my iPhone zoom sucks but hopefully I'm not disappointing anyone.

This is great news, and I'm glad Kamper recovered from this dirty shot by little brother.

To me, this deal is a toss up. Yeah it makes sense from a lineup perspective, ellsbury, crawford, agon, youk, ortiz, drew, salty, pedroia, lowery, makes a very scary nine. But at the same time, why pay a player who's main attribute is his speed, and stick him in front of the green monster? If they wanted to get another outfielder, Werth would have been the better option, as he is a righty. Who knows, maybe Ellsbury becomes expandable after this move.
One thing is for certain, I'm glad the Tigers didn't overpay for Crawford or Werth. If we bring back Maglio for 8-10 mil, we still have wiggle room for a 4-5th starter. The Martinez deal, money wise, is a steal. He brings a new dimention to the lineup, switch hitter, and we no longer have to see Laird strike out three times a game. I like what the Tigers have done so far this offseason and I think they are very close talent wise to the Twins and Sox
|08/15/2010 - 9:13pm||Dustin Johnson||
The kid played some great golf this weekend, that chip on 16 was amazing. Could you imagine the mayhem that would have happened if he nailed that putt ? I feel bad for the guy, he blew his second major tournament (U.S. Open).
|08/14/2010 - 8:19pm||Jahvid Best||
The kid looks really good. He made a couple catches and put a spin move on James Farrior that was sweet. Can only hope he can stay on the field without injury because he has a lot of potential.

This actually has been one of the slower trade deadlines in recent years. The White Sox are going to make a move. Minnesota improved its bullpen with Matt Capps, I would almost expect than for the Sox than to land Dunn. If your interested in the baseball trade deadline I have a full team run down in my blog. http://diehardsport.blogspot.com/2010/07/season-of-pitchertrade-deadline-team.html
