OT: Lions/NFL Open Thread
Open game day thread for Lions/Packers.
as usual, the Lions start the game with a penalty - holding on the opening kickoff and then proceed to go three and out... Go Lions...
[FA Edit: As per usual, ALL NFL talk goes here. Also, remember, sport tags when creating threads: this is NOT football. Please file pro sports under "other."]

0-16, 2-14, now 3 - ??(13)
I smell progress!
December 12th, 2010 at 3:58 PM ^
How about that, they actually won a conference game!
Edit: Division game
December 12th, 2010 at 3:57 PM ^
Finally beat the Packers! Great performance by Lions defense.
December 12th, 2010 at 3:58 PM ^
We are actually worse in close games than the Lions are. Somehow despite being anointed the best team in the NFC we won't make the playoffs. Tom Brady, keep this season alive.
December 12th, 2010 at 3:59 PM ^
God I hope this doesn't start all the Sparty fans saying that "see Stanton is good"...he fucking sucks.
December 12th, 2010 at 4:01 PM ^
How could anyone that watched this game think that Stanton is good?
You're totally right, he SUCKS!
December 12th, 2010 at 4:03 PM ^
December 12th, 2010 at 6:17 PM ^
The ESPN play-by-play begs to differ. Your first play you described went for ten yards, setting up a first and goal.
December 12th, 2010 at 4:01 PM ^
Wow when was the last game the Lions didn't let an opponent score a touchdown?
December 12th, 2010 at 4:06 PM ^
1st game, Seahawks won 9-6.
December 12th, 2010 at 4:02 PM ^
Stanton is awful - but they overcame him.
December 12th, 2010 at 4:05 PM ^
honestly i cant think of 1 spartan player thats panned out in the nfl unless you count the wr in jail, and peterson to me makes to many retarted penalties in crunch time. the same goes for osu players i dont remember 1 being a (great nfl player in the last 10 years) unless malcom jenkins stayson his pace they all under preform, now michigan has the raining defensive player, prob the mvp this year, and not to mention probowler's everywhere
December 12th, 2010 at 4:09 PM ^
so to help you out I'll suggest that you find a dictionary and the shift key. Calling somebody "retarted" undermines your opinion to a fair extent.
December 12th, 2010 at 4:04 PM ^
The DL was incredible today.Just a great feeling to see a Lions win.
December 12th, 2010 at 4:09 PM ^
Look what happend you doubters
but seriously it's ridiculous to look at the first page comments to the last page comments
December 12th, 2010 at 4:13 PM ^
They won a game they had no business winning.
They still suck and their record proves it.
I have no problem being called a doubter after watching this garbage of an organization for the last 35 years.
December 12th, 2010 at 4:20 PM ^
Why do you even watch sports? Isn't the reason we watch to feel good when our team wins? Sure they still suck, we all know that. But my god man, the Lions just beat the Packers with Drew Stanton at qb, Maurice Morris at running back, and I think a hot dog vendor at cornerback..
You really aren't capable of enjoying this win for 5 minutes??
December 12th, 2010 at 4:31 PM ^
I'm with you man. I can't stand that organization. They suck now, have for a long time, and will for a long time, and somehow still get 65,000 people every week to fucking BELIEVE that something good is going to happen some year.
December 12th, 2010 at 4:50 PM ^
doesn't show it but the Lions do not suck this season. They have been really good, just unlucky.
They are heading to the right direction. The DL is becoming elite and they have improved the roster from the top to the bottom. Next year, the Lions should be knocking the door to make the playoff.
December 12th, 2010 at 4:17 PM ^
Best part about being a Lions fan: you don't see many wins, but when you do it's really fun to watch the reactions from other teams' fans.
December 12th, 2010 at 4:20 PM ^
Good Call. The fans of a team that loses to the Lions should be put on TWIS watch.
December 12th, 2010 at 7:45 PM ^
Yeah, like that guy. How funny is it to watch Packers fans blame the loss on not having Rodgers? Have they seen who we have trying to get the ball to the receivers?
I'll give it to the one guy who blamed the Pack O-line, though. Shit, their O-line got fucking owned today.
December 12th, 2010 at 4:20 PM ^
Bottom line they won so you can't say they played a game they had no business winning. The organization is bouncing back slowly by slowly if there quarterback can stay healthy and they don't blow there pick for patrick peterson they should be good next year.
December 12th, 2010 at 4:22 PM ^
they won a game they had no business winning, not played a game they had no business winning.
I'm not trying to argue their improvement, but the record speaks for itself.
December 12th, 2010 at 4:27 PM ^
were terrible before the season, so this record is not a surprise-- especially when you consider that they been without their starting QB for most of the season.

<br>What Schwartz inherited was 100x the mess RR inherited at UM. If RR deserves time then so does Schwartz.
December 12th, 2010 at 4:19 PM ^
Oh my god look at that field. I can't imagine trying to play or even watch in those conditions.
December 12th, 2010 at 4:21 PM ^
Football weather!
December 12th, 2010 at 4:22 PM ^
Chicago field crew put the grid back into gridiron.
December 12th, 2010 at 4:30 PM ^
Watching Stanton all afternoon just makes me appreciate how good Brady really is.
December 12th, 2010 at 4:34 PM ^
Your 100% correct if rich rod deserves time so does Schwartz, Rich Rod for damn sakes went 2-6 1-7 3-5 in the big ten there is no reason to have those records, especially when your at michigan. And everyone say's he had no players, he came in too arogant and didn't do the most important recruiting and that is keeping the players you already have.
December 12th, 2010 at 4:51 PM ^
For damn sakes, your right!
/why
December 12th, 2010 at 4:51 PM ^
You're welcome.
December 12th, 2010 at 4:52 PM ^
you're is like the formal version of the word, right?
December 12th, 2010 at 4:59 PM ^
I believe it's the past pluperfect tense.
December 12th, 2010 at 9:15 PM ^
"Your" + "say's" + "arogant" + "damn sakes" - punctuation - Shift key =
December 12th, 2010 at 4:57 PM ^
The Patriots are looking incredibly physical for a team that had a reputation of being a timing and finesse offence.
December 12th, 2010 at 5:09 PM ^
Da Bears getting Da ass kicked.
December 12th, 2010 at 5:24 PM ^
That's what you get for hiring Marinelli and Martz, Bears.
December 12th, 2010 at 5:39 PM ^
Can't believe that last TD. Awesome.
December 12th, 2010 at 5:43 PM ^
Beating the Bears like Taylor Lewan's rented donkey
December 12th, 2010 at 5:44 PM ^
On the fake!
December 12th, 2010 at 6:00 PM ^
Jay Feely 55 yard FG! He's scored all 16 of the Cards points!
December 12th, 2010 at 6:07 PM ^
Wait what happened to the Pats/Bears game? Go out to the garage to bring in some brews and suddenly I've got Henne v. Manningham?
December 12th, 2010 at 6:33 PM ^
I think you mean Edwards.
December 12th, 2010 at 6:34 PM ^
Yeah I was all excited for tomorrow night's game.
December 12th, 2010 at 6:08 PM ^
They changed games because this one was "more competitive." Which, well, yeah.
December 12th, 2010 at 6:42 PM ^
Is no where near as much fun.
