Think Roundtree is glad he went blue?
So, I'm thinking Roy Roundtree is glad he went blue. I spent a little while assembling the numbers, and here's what I figured out.
Assuming that Roundtree was the same star at Purdue that he is here, averaging about 25% of his team's passing O, and played approx the same number of games, here's how it works out.
In 2009, he would've had a slightly better yardage year than he had with M, recording 534 total yards, but only two TD's.
In 2010, he would so far have only 335 yards and a little less than 2 TD's. He'd be on pace for MAYBE 500 and 3 TD's.
Yeah, with Michigan, he's on pace for RIGHT about 900-1000, with 6-7 TD's. One of those gets scouts looking. The others does not.
I think he's glad he went blue.

I know I'm glad he did

How glad is he that he got contacts?

Wasn't that Stonum?
November 10th, 2010 at 1:54 PM ^
It's actually both Roundtree and Stonum. Hopefully the coaches gave an eye exam to ALL players after that...

I don't understand how an eye exam wasn't standard procedure on a D1 Football team. Then again, the Freep would probably find a way to report excessive optometry based on anonymous reports.

I think for anyone Michigan over Purdue is a no brainer
November 10th, 2010 at 1:39 PM ^
No brainer, on any and all fronts. No b-r-a-i-n-e-r.....

With Smith?, their #1 WR down for the year, I think he would have a greater %age this year.
He has to like who will be throwing him the ball at UM > PU.

Roundtree is about 1,000 votes (5%) behind Kellen Moore for impact player of the week. You can vote more than once if you clear your cookies in between votes:

+1 for Cookie Monster. I have an 18 month old, so I see a lot of Cookie.

I have to vomit in order to vote again? But how do they know?

He said that he thinks he made the right decision in his Monday press conference.
November 10th, 2010 at 12:48 PM ^
Especially with Purdue's injury bug, those numbers don't matter. He might not have played at all the last two years.

Duuuh!
November 10th, 2010 at 12:53 PM ^
He definitely seems to like the pregame breakfasts

Roundtree clearly saw something he didn't like at Purdue to make him switch, and based on how the seasons have gone for both teams you have to think he made the right choice. Purdue may be a more "classical" passing team, but with Denard and Tate drawing in defenses you have a great chance as a receiver to record massive yardage totals because of how wide open you'll get down the field. I am amazed more WRs don't recognize the opportunity RR's offense provides them if they are willing to block and don't expect a 6'5" statute lobbing jump balls to them.

Yes... Danny Hope.
November 10th, 2010 at 4:10 PM ^
Nay. It's more like he really liked what he saw at Michigan. The story was that Roundtree always wanted a Michigan offer and didn't get one from Lloyd, but RR offered. That's why Hope is such a dum-dum for starting the snake oil meme. Tree would never have been a Boilermake in the first place if he'd been offered by Michigan from the start.
November 10th, 2010 at 4:39 PM ^
Actually is Joe Tiller who started the snake oil bit, their Hope guy came later.

I'd think RR wouldn't want anyone who expects 6'5" statutes lobbing balls. I feel I can safely speak for him when I say no one wants any legislatures involved with the lobbing of footballs.
November 10th, 2010 at 12:56 PM ^
It seems to be paying off for him now. I am sure he would like to stick it to those guys particularly after the trash talking last year.
November 10th, 2010 at 1:00 PM ^
Because Roundtree is full of win. And possibly next year, burning fools in his #1 jersey.

snake oiled him

And I am sure we have better breakfasts.

Since he doesn't really have a nickname I propose "Ro-Ro".

Roy Ro, Shaggy.

His twitter name is Treezy. I kinda like that.
November 10th, 2010 at 1:29 PM ^
If he'd gone to Purdue, he'd have been able to gaze upon the abundant female charms of the Golden Girl.
November 10th, 2010 at 6:22 PM ^
That the Golden Girl would get his Boiler Up!? <rimshot>
November 10th, 2010 at 1:50 PM ^
I hate having a 2 game losing streak to Purdue...hopefully Roundtree has something to say about that this weekend.
November 10th, 2010 at 2:40 PM ^
Talk about a life-changing near miss! Four years of doldrums at Purdue. Plus, have you been to West Lafayette? Yuk.
November 10th, 2010 at 5:04 PM ^
Who wouldn't be more excited to go to Michigan over Purdue? Hope Roundtree can best last week and introduce Hope to a real football coach after the game.
November 10th, 2010 at 5:11 PM ^
always has a smile on his face.......he's definitely a fan favorite, I'm sure he's glad that he decided to go to Michigan.........
