Alabama In Dallas In 2012: All But Official
Via the axeman himself:
TUSCALOOSA -- It hasn't been announced officially yet, Alabama coach Nick Saban said tonight on his radio show, but he announced it anyway:
Alabama will play Michigan in 2012 in Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Senior Denard! A bunch of guys who haven't been cut from Alabama and are therefore badass! SATURDAY! SATURDAY! SATURDAY! IN THE JERRYDOME!
WHY DON'T WE JUST PLAY A HOME AND HOME I DON'T KNOOOOOOOOW
(Arrogant bit.)

They scheduled this because they know I'll be moving out of East Texas just 4 months before the game.
September 23rd, 2010 at 9:40 PM ^
I just assumed you live in the stands at Fisher Stadium.
Kudos to you for keeping your passion even its a 20 hour drive away!

Required him to move to East Texas.

One apartment further north would violate my restraining order. I was really bummed when they took down the Ray Fisher Construction camera. The 24/7 video coverage was the only thing to satisfy my fix.

I'll be looking forward to listening to Paul Finebaum's show on the ride home tomorrow on my Sirius radio... remember, RR rejected Alabama the year before he came to A^2 and judging by callers to Finebaum's show, they think they're just the smartest people on the planet for "not accepting Rodriguez"
September 23rd, 2010 at 11:37 PM ^
occasionally sinced I moved to Alabama. I'm so sick of people thanking me for RR coming to Michigan istead of Alabama.
September 23rd, 2010 at 9:36 PM ^
... but I find it weird that Saban did this on a radio show. It seems like something he wasn't greenlighted to say but did because he's an arrogant SOB.
September 23rd, 2010 at 9:37 PM ^
Jerry Jones overpaid to get the game.
September 24th, 2010 at 10:07 AM ^
it seems saban has a history of doing neutral site games. Per this espn article:
http://espn.go.com/blog/sec/post/_/id/14417/alabama-to-play-michigan-in…
Saban said Alabama would also play games in Atlanta in 2013 and 2014 against ACC opponents. The Crimson Tide played a neutral site game in each of Saban's first three seasons at Alabama, facing Florida State in Jacksonville, Fla., in 2007 and then Clemson in Atlanta in 2008 and Virginia Tech in Atlanta last season. Alabama's marquee nonconference game this season was Penn State, and the Tide will play at Penn State next season.

Michigan's 2012 road games include Alabama, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Ohio State.
September 23rd, 2010 at 9:45 PM ^
Which is depressing as if we can replace Molk and we assume that defensive recruits turn out, we might be kind of awesome in 2012.
September 23rd, 2010 at 9:53 PM ^
against, say, Texas and Oregon for the same year, we'll have my dream non-conference schedule.
September 23rd, 2010 at 9:58 PM ^
To enter the Big Ten season quite possibly 0-4?
September 23rd, 2010 at 10:00 PM ^
and play nothing but USC, ND, Bama, LSU, Florida etc. than go 4-0 playing directional Michigan and FBS schools.
September 23rd, 2010 at 10:16 PM ^
that likes cat o' nine tails and nipple clamps aren't you?
September 23rd, 2010 at 10:24 PM ^
I mean, one or two legit non-conference games is nice, but like, shit man. That is beyond ridiculous. I hope my sarcasm meter is broken.
September 23rd, 2010 at 10:36 PM ^
I just like to see Michigan play awesome teams. I was there when FSU came to town and stomped Michigan in 1991 (I was like 7) and I thought it was so cool that we played FSU even though we got destroyed. I'd take that kind of atmosphere any day over a 10-2 season with wins over cupcakes.
September 24th, 2010 at 12:34 AM ^
Remember that time Michigan got destoyed by Terrell Buckley? That was pretty cool.
Remember that time Rocket Ismail beat Michigan single handedly? That was awesome.

I was at that game, and kept mentioning it to the strangers next to me while watching Denard destroy ND and they responded with blank stares.
September 24th, 2010 at 10:07 AM ^
If I remember correctly, which I may not be, that was a close game until the final Grbac INT. Bowden used every trick in the book and we played catch up right after the Buckley INT. The score wasnt reflective in how we kept on going down and kept on coming back.
Speaking of schedules, that was a tough one and we did ok. At BC was the first game, then ND, and to top it off, FSU. We were ranked #2 and they were #1.
I rather we play a tough, but not impossible, schedule because we play to our opponents with a few exceptions.
September 24th, 2010 at 2:00 PM ^
We got smoked in that game.
September 24th, 2010 at 5:28 PM ^
I guess you were right, not sure why I thought that game was close in the 4th Q. It could have been from all the beer in the system. I looked it up :

Call it the Award Tour
September 23rd, 2010 at 10:26 PM ^
Suddenly I'm not quite as excited about this. That is quite the grind.
September 23rd, 2010 at 10:29 PM ^
That is insane. I'm all for playing Bama but ideally in a non ND, non PSU year?
September 23rd, 2010 at 10:41 PM ^
I strongly suspect that the Michigan vs. ND series will take a break starting in 2012.
September 24th, 2010 at 8:31 AM ^
I remember hearing something about them not playing ND that year maybe? Either way if we win those games we could probably lose two Big Ten games depending on divison and still have a shot at the NC.
September 24th, 2010 at 10:02 AM ^
I agree we will likely "take a break" against ND from 2012-2013, based on this. All non-conf games are tentative and even if they are "scheduled," you can wiggle out of them (as opposed to conference games - we are definitely playing at Neb and OSU in 2012.
Plus, ND did their own version of UM-Alabama, as they will play Miami (YTM) at Soldier Field in 2012, not to mention their trip to Ireland to play Navy. Unless they are gluttons for punishment, it looks like ND is playing Miami (instead of us) and we're playing Alabama (instead of ND).

exactly 732 types of awesome.
Also I had a rusty nail and a martini tonight, which is how I came to that number.

I really hope Tater's Mlive username works on that Al.com story. Might as well start whipping the Tide fans into a frenzy.
September 23rd, 2010 at 9:55 PM ^
A big victory in big D may land some big recruits from Texas, too!
September 23rd, 2010 at 9:55 PM ^
Luckily for Saban, there's no Michigan in Alabama
September 23rd, 2010 at 9:56 PM ^
I bet tickets will be expensive.

Starts NOW.

We beat Alabama in this year's NC game, it won't.

Please reference The Knowledge's season review. I believe it's the Broncos we'll be seeing in the NC game.

September 23rd, 2010 at 10:04 PM ^
This is fantastic...I suppose it's a little strange that my first ever Michigan game will be in Texas, but such is life.
September 23rd, 2010 at 10:36 PM ^
Have you talked to anyone about ticket prices. I live about 5 hours from there so I hear the seats that are high enough that you have to duck under airplanes are still crazy high. Have you heard the same things? I was told that the worst seats in the house can go for around $150, but don't know if I trust the source. That seems awfully high, but you never put anything past Jerry Jones.
September 23rd, 2010 at 10:06 PM ^
Woooo...come on down boys. Damn glad to get to see the Wolverines in the Death Star!!
September 23rd, 2010 at 10:07 PM ^
As far as I can tell. the last time Michigan played a non-bowl neutral site game was October 14, 1950 against #1-ranked Army in Yankee Stadium.
September 23rd, 2010 at 10:12 PM ^
*** crossing my fingers for a solid defense by then ***
September 23rd, 2010 at 11:52 PM ^
It's going to need to be more than solid against 'Bama at what will amount to a home game for them. C'mon GERG, make the magic happen!
September 23rd, 2010 at 10:15 PM ^
...awesome. But please god, let us have a competent defense by then...
September 23rd, 2010 at 10:17 PM ^
Daughter's college fund be damned! THIS is where that money should go... Now all I have to do is convince the wife... or sell a kidney.
