OT: Sporcle quiz for Tigers fans
What is WAR?
Absolutely nothin'
Again
Another way of showing how valuable a player is to his team.
only struck out 329 times in over 12,100 ABs. That is amazing.
Got 37 without even trying. Had I tried, I might have got 2 more, but no more than that, even on a good day.
I spent most of my time trying to remember Norm Cash and Willie Horton's names, even though their faces were burned into my memory. I suck at names. Also they wouldn't accept "Donnie Bush" or "Harvey Kuen" -- I figured out the extra N on Kuen but Donie's weird spelling caught me.
Missed (other than those named): Bobby Veach, Bill Freehan, Dick McAuliffe, Tony Phillips (another just because I was misspelling the damn name), Billy Rogell, Lu Blue, Jim Northrup, Charlie Maxwell, Matty McIntyre, Johnny Bassler, Ray Boone, Vic Wertz, Jimmy Barrett, Roy Cullenbine, Steve Kemp, Dick Wakefield, Darrell Evans (this one was bothering me b/c I know the '80s Tigers really really well), Hoot Evers, Bob Fothergill, Mickey Stanley.
Still, 27, plus I'm giving myself credit for Tony Phillips and Donie Bush because I was just spelling their names wrong. Figuring I would have had Cash, Horton, and Evans given more time I guess that's okay.
I'm extremely upset with myself for not getting Tony Phillips considering he was such a favorite of mine as a youngster I emulated his batting stance for a few years. Definitely was My Tiger for a while. I don't know how I got Veach and Bush and Lu Blue and didn't get Tony Phillips and Lance Parrish. I'm retarded like that sometimes.
I'm an idiot
Disregard. Issue resolved.
Sadness for my youth.
Sporcle is lacking in 'country strength': Marcus Thames and Craig Monroe but easily made up for in Cecil Fielder.
There's a lot of old-school country strength in there. Horton and Colavito, like.
Where was Heinie Manush?
I got 29 and I'm not nearly old enough to remember almost all of these names. I got more than I thought I would.
