UEFA Championship: Liverpool v Real Madrid
RM. Salah won't be enough
Well, a #8 seed that is two-time defending champion and which obviously took it easy during the regular season.
Still deciding what I am going to bet . Might do some props
but love Liverpool at those odds.
Real has been very fortunate the last two rounds and have been mostly outplayed. Liverpool has just been a machine the last few months.
To the first person that shits on this thread and talks about how much soccer sucks.
Pulls of the W today. That team is so much fun to watch and I don't need to see Madrid getting a threepeat. I like CR7 but I've got fatigue of him winning 3 of the last 4 CL titles.
I know you're joking, but in all seriousness, these are two highest scoring teams in the competition and neither really emphasize defense in their tactics, so I wouldn't be surprised to see 5+ goals scored today.
I think the winner has 4+ goals.
Root for LFC, they're the Michigan of the soccer world.
Best defensive record in the Prem since Van Dijk signed, but that's none of my business
Terrible comp. Michigan doesn't have a corner of their fanbase responsible for the deaths of dozens of opposing fans at Heysel, resulting in the expulsion of the league from European competition for years.
Also we have better colors.
People probably died because you guys practiced too much, to be honest
Allez Allez Allez!
The comparison was apter a few years ago when Klopp and Harbaugh were re-energizing their respective fanbases, but Klopp has gotten better results during that span
Other than this UCL run, I wouldn't say that. Liverpool has yet to win a trophy or finish higher than fourth in the Klopp era.
Obviously looking at this a little differently after this game, but I can't argue with that
I think ND is Man U. Another historic club, lots of titles with a huge donor base (transfer budget) and preseason hype that isn't matched by the season's results very often.
Really? I always thought Arsenal was the Michigan of EPL.
Haven't won the league since 2004, came very close to a couple UCL titles in the 00s but lost.
Then went through the doldrums of the late 00s and early 10s.
Liverpool strikes me more like USC. They won UCL titles in the 00s. Michigan and Arsenal didn't.
Arsenal's overall history is nowhere near Michigan's.
This is the exact comparison that I make.
I take it back. Liverpool is deff Michigan. The way they just let RM score like that is CLASSIC Michigan buffoonery.
Pool is the clear underdog, but damn that would be a glorious party if they can somehow defy gravity and pull this off. I know excessive nationalism is a bad thing, but if they win, all of England will go crazy having slayed big bad RM.
Having said that, I have to give credit where it's due to Zidane who was trying to save his own job just five months ago. And as much as I hate the thuggish defensive tactics of Ramos and Casamiro, I admire the attacking skills and instincts of Marcelo on the left.
I saw a video where they interviewed Premiership fans about who they would root for and it was about 50/50 for and against liverpool. I think fans of the teams who aren't top six rivals of Liverpool's want to see an English win.
but if they win, all of England will go crazy having slayed big bad RM.Nah, they'll be more like, "Glad an English club finally won this thing but why did it have to be the Scousers?"
....not a soccer fan, but fun to watch the hundreds of crazy fans lining the barriers where the players will go down to get to the buses. Press helicopters above and cameras ready to film the big scene, but my kids were focused on moving along to get up to the ice cream parlor farther up the street. They said if it were the Patriots or Wolverines at the hotel they would be interested in fighting for a good spot, but not for soccer (they tire of all the focus on soccer in their school). We probably will be watching netflix tonight.
1) Watching at home
2) Because they suck
Salah exposing Marcelo's hyper aggression so far.
So sad Klopp never won UCL with Dortmund. Those teams were filthy good.
I have never seen them look this shook on a stage this large.
