Here's a stunner from the college softball world. Boston University (now 4-3) upset top-ranked, previously undefeated (5-0) and defending national champion Oklahoma 4-3 in a tournament in Las Cruces, New Mexico. LINK
As for the relevance to Michigan and Big Ten softball, last Sunday, Boston U beat Michigan State 3-0 and lost 3-2 in eight innings to Ohio State in a tournament in Boca Raton, Florida. LINK

Possibly more relevant to B1G matters: Minnesota just went 0-4 this weekend. Could just be early season stuff but if it's at all indicative of their play going forward, the B1G just opened back up.

This is the kind of win we could just never get last year. Came within 60 feet of it a couple times, but couldn't get there. A big W like this, esp. on the strength of a brilliant performance by a freshman, and early on in the season, can do wonders for a team that is growing together. Can't wait to see what they'll do!

In two years we'll add another pitcher with similar credentials to Beaubien. Chandler Dennis, who was Georgia player of the year in their latgest class, is another fireballing lefty who will complete the best 1-2 punch we've ever had, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Anybody know if Schaefer could potentially be ready to contribute this year? It'd be nice to have a 3rd option. Other teams seem to have like 5 or 6.

Looking forward to seeing her together with Beaubien for two years.
"Was the Daily Post’s Player of the Year as a sophomore last season after going 19-6 with a 1.20 ERA and 144 strikeouts, and hitting .510, with three homer runs, 29 RBIs, 15 doubles and a 1.323 OPS in helping the Bulldogs to the Class AAAAAA state championship
Ranked as the No. 10 junior in the nation by FloSoftball
That is especially true, considering that one of her biggest pitching rivals — Daily Post Pitcher of the Year Skylar Hayward of Mill Creek — is someone she battled five times this past season.
And with Hayward having recently signed with Ohio State, Dennis is certain the two will cross paths again in only a few years."

There will be radio and live stats on the FSU site for the 2nd game, but the annoncers seem to have flunked "Communications 101" and have been assigned to do the broadcasts to make up the class.
