Ah, no, not even the toughest this year. Take a look at Florida's schedule. In their non-conference schedule they play Mich, Arizona, Ariz St, UCLA twice, Oregon, Wash, Minnesota and defending Nat'l Champ Fla St twice--then the SEC which is considerably tougher than the B1G--three games each with Bama, Tenn, LSU, Auburn and Tex A&M among others.

04/29/2018 - 9:42am I would add to your post

I would add to your post about men's track and field that Andrew Liskowitz had a historic day in the shot put. He broke the school record the school record by over a foot with a 2nd round toss of 64-10.75 then on his next throw he add almost another 2 feet with a toss of 66-6.5 which is the 2nd best throw in the country so far. Altogether he upped the school record by 2 ft 10 in!!

04/26/2018 - 5:40pm Brienne Minor had surgery on

Brienne Minor had surgery on her knee and missed the whole fall season so, despite being NCAA Champ, having her game on the shelf for 4 months took a toll. Top recruit Alyvia Jones badly sprained her ankle and missed about a month of the season. On top of that senior and three year starter Alex Najarian left the team--not sure what the story is with that one. The team still went 11-1 in the B1G and could make a run in the NCAA's.

State fans are more disappointed by this news than Michigan. My, how times have changed.

03/12/2018 - 8:08pm Based on minutes played it

Based on minutes played it looks like N Colorado's tallest starter is 5-9, two girls are 6-1 and 6-3 who play very little. Only two players who average in double figures are 5-6 and 5-7. Huge height advantage for us.

03/09/2018 - 4:41pm It probably doesn't help that

It probably doesn't help that it's not a B1G sport. The only varsity sport that's not B1G sport that we have is water polo and the only reason that we have that is because Bill Martin gave in to a Regent who wanted water polo.

02/18/2018 - 8:47am In two years we'll add

In two years we'll add another pitcher with similar credentials to Beaubien. Chandler Dennis, who was Georgia player of the year in their latgest class, is another fireballing lefty who will complete the best 1-2 punch we've ever had, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

For those listening on the radio take the speed of the pitches with a grain of salt. The USF scoreboard gun typically show about 4 mph too high.

01/30/2018 - 3:20pm The connection between

The connection between Secchia and Meijer with Forsyth has more to do with the fact  that they're all Republicans from Kent County and little to do with MSU. I don't think Meijer or Forsyth have any strong connection to MSU. I don't think you'll find a better prosecutor than Bill Forsyth.

Seems pretty trivial now.

01/17/2018 - 10:49am Small point, in gymnastics

Nebraska hasn't played in Ann Arbor since they've been in the B1G. Bad schedule for RPI which is a big factor in NCAA seeding.

I don't know who the 6th recruit is but it's likely a preferred walk-on. That's how it was done with Natalia Rodriquez this year and Haley Hoogenraad the year before.

10/14/2017 - 7:49am Good question

I have no idea why UM isn't giving the game any publicity but we added a similar game with UDM a few years ago. Maybe it's more of a scrimmage than a game but it is on UDM's schedule as a game and UM's ushers are scheduled to be there.

10/13/2017 - 11:13pm Perhaps even more impressive

in our last four games, two of which were against ranked teams, we've out shot our opponents 103 to 6.

10/13/2017 - 2:54pm One correction

Our fall season isn't wrapped up yet. We play UDM next Thursday, Oct 19, at 4 pm at Alumni Field. I have no idea why it's not on our website, but it is on UDM's website and I was told about it by an usher.

07/05/2017 - 7:14pm Wow, we've been on roll

Wow, we've been on roll lately, but M Ascending remains in a funk because she's only 6-2 and no 6-2 player can guard anyone taller than 6-2.

07/05/2017 - 7:11pm LOL, I've been to almost all

LOL, I've been to almost all the the home WBB games for the last 20 years.  It's pretty easy to demonstrate that your greatly overstating the case.

OSU tallest two players last year were 6-3, one averged 11.4 ppg and the other 4.8 ppg and both graduated. Their team was decimated by transfers and their biggest player will be 6-2 who averaged 3 ppg.

Indiana had one starter, Jenn Anderson, who was 6-3 and she averaged 9.1 and 5.4 rebounds. She's graduated now and no one else was over 6-2.

Purdue had 6-6 girl who started 0 games and averaged 1.6 ppg. and a 6-4 transfer coming in from Gulf  Coast State who sat out last year with injury and averaged 3'3 ppg as a freshman.. After that they will have one 6-2 girl on the roster.

For Maryland Brionna Jones was a legit star but she was a 6-3 center, hardly towering over a 6-2 player--and she's graduated.

For Nebraska Jessica Shepard fits your mold at 6-4 and tore Hallie Thome up two years ago with over 30 pts and 20 rebounds. Last year for us 5-11 Jillian Dunstin held her to 4 pts and now she's transferred for her last two years.

And so on throughout the Big Ten.  If  you think you can just look a roster, see a junior recruit is 6-2, then immediately conclude she can't play center in the Big 10 is delusional.  In the film I saw she looked pretty damn strong to me.  But lots of 6-2 centers can give 6-4 centers fits and I hope she's one of them.

Goree may have been listed at 6-3, but I'm 6-2 and talked to her eyeball to eyeball and I was at least an inch taller and she could play even up with Minnesota's 6-5 Amanda Zahui B.

I'm eagerly awaiting your expert analysis that a 5-10 guard can't possibly keep up with a 5-7 guard.

07/05/2017 - 2:00pm Other than one day in 1935

Other than one day in 1935 there's nothing particularly noteworthy about Ferry Field as a track facility. It wasn't used as a track at all until football departed for their new digs in 1927. We haven't hosted an outdoor B1G Championship meet in nearly 30 years due to insufficiencies in the facility. While we've had many great track and field athletes over the years, very, very few of their accomplishments have occurred at Ferry Field. We host very few outdoor meets let alone meets of any importance. All of Yost's point-a-minute teams played at Regents Field where Schembechler Hall now sits, not Ferry Field.  Ferry Field served as a football field for only 21 years.

It's silly to tie up prime real estate in the middle of the athletic campus as a little used jogging track and a shrine to a Buckeye because of one day 82 years ago.

07/04/2017 - 6:07pm Athleticism is more important

Athleticism is more important the height. Plenty of 6-5 girls are nailed to the floor, If they're 6-5 and athletic they're playing for UConn.

06/19/2017 - 3:25pm The MSU men's basketball coach in question

was likely Jud Heathcote. His first year at State would've been Hutch's freshman year.

Not sure where you're getting your info but Monroe SMCC beat Liggett in the quaterfinals 5-0 on a no hitter, unless the scorer counted an obvious error as a hit.  I was at the game, It wasn't 2-1.
