He had the 4th best Passer Rating in the conference, man. He threw for 140 yards and a TD in one half against the best defense in the country. You're throwing too many barbs for not bringing much brains to the table.

Woof...long post...
What about Peters makes you feel comfortable handing him the keys to the castle? Why are we putting so much trust and faith in him (and Christian) when - collectively - they've combined for 3.5 games? Peters has thrown a grand total of ±60 passes thus far in his college career. He played with a very vanilla playbook and looked straight up rough at moments of various games (and showed flashes of brilliance at other parts of the games).
Admittedly he was an improvement from JOK, but that's not really a good measuring stick. Posters have suggested, "If Peters plays against MSU and OSU, we win those game..." I have no idea what they base those conclusions on. One-half of one game against Wisconsin?! It seems like a "hot take."
You mention Peters had the 4th best passer rating in the conference. I'm not sure if that's a complement or an insult. After all, this is the B1G. The B1G doesn't have very good QBs.
The fact is we play all of our major rivals on the road next season, and we don't have a QB on the roster now that his played a full, meaningful game on the road yet (read: played the entire game). Peters has one-half experience on the road against a quality opponent...and that's it. He might be best friends with players on the team; so be it. That doesn't give him gravitas to manage the offense, especially - if by the coaches actions - he couldn't even beat out JOK for the back-up role halfway through the year.
All of a sudden, we have gone from having two somewhat veteran QBs on the roster (one of which had a questionable skillset) to now we bring back 3.5 games of QBing experience. We have a fanbase that is increasingly restless with our record against rivals, and - whether fair or unfair - there is going to be a media spotlight on Harbaugh much of next year to deliver results. To me - if I'm Harbaugh - I recognize poor QB play cost me at least 1 if not 2 games last year, and I'm bringing in a potential blue chipper to turn that tide. If Patterson wants to - and the NCAA permits him to - come to UM next year, game on.

The upside of bringing Patterson in outweigh the downsides by a lot.

41% of Patterson's yards and 53% of his touchdowns came in two games against Southern Alabama and UT Martin. That's not even up to the level of competition O'Korn faced at Houston. Against Power 5 opponents, Patterson's TD:INT ratio is 1:1 (8:8). He put up video game numbers against two cupcakes, then was pretty average against Cal and the SEC. Against Power 5 teams, he only had 1 game with a better Passer Rating than Peters had on the season.

has serious skills.
But it is also true that he makes to many bad decisions. If he comes he would have to learn to be more disciplined.

2. What makes him “not a fit for our offense?”
Because he is athletic and can make/extend plays with his legs?

If there is mutual intrest and he can be immediately eligable then you take him. If he has to sit a year thendevelop and work with what you have and contiue to recruit the postiion. Somebody mentioned it but continuity is the unspoken conversation thats very important

Kinda done waiting for transfers to save the program.
How about developing your recruits?

Who gives a shit if Michigan's quarterback comes from Timbuktu? Just get the guy that can throw.
December 1st, 2017 at 10:27 PM ^
Unless this guy has a ridiculous amount of baggage, not sure why anybody wouldn't take him even before Wilton announced his transfer. He obviously has talent, starting experience, and more than one year of eligibility.
We played three QB's this year. With the transfer we have Peters, who I admit looked much better than what we were used to, but wasn't exactly blowing the doors off of defenses and Mccaffrey who may be great but still hasn't seen one live game snap.
If the need to play 3 again next year which true freshman is Harbaugh going to throw into the fire?

Ah in that case then prob not. For that highly rated of a recruit to go to Ole Mi$$ (forgive me) makes sense I guess

Well fuck, I hope Milton doesn't back out man I absolutely love this kids arm. Here is to hoping he is trying to decide what he is having for dinner.

look at his tweet right before that one

I don't know what Milton is referring to, but the tweet you are talking about came on Tuesday, before any of this news about Patterson came out. I'm not saying this news is affecting Milton, but the tweet before doesn't prove that it isn't.

Looks to me like it says Dec 1 at 7:54 PM
He just said he is trying to figure out what colors to where on signing day. At 1st that kinda sounds bad but he backs it up with a Michigan emoji so I guess that's a good thing.
December 1st, 2017 at 11:12 PM ^
He just tweeted that as clarification. The tweet I was referencing in the comment you replied to, and the tweet the above poster was talking about, was the tweet from Nov. 28 about being in the gym.

From what I was told, Milton will only decommit if Harbaugh leaves and thats not happening. He also followed up with other tweets confirming his commitment. He doesnt seem to be scared of competition. He knew Peters an DM where here before he committed. From what I was told, he thinks he can beat those kids out. Not saying he will, but I was told he feels he can. He just tweeted "Those who stay will be champions"
December 2nd, 2017 at 9:10 AM ^
Doubt he'd commit here if he didn't think he could win the job...

You need quality depth, this year showed that. If this does happen, hopefully folks still stay around

I am not sure what it is about Milton but I feel like he could be great under Harbaugh. That being said he does scare me because his completion percentage is around 48 to 49 percent. Every time I think about a rocket arm and bad accuracy I think about Shane Morris. I am really happy he has had a good year at CMU Shane and Devin went through hell here under Hoke.
Then the douche canoe who tweeted to him 4th string at Michigan is better than starting anywhere else lol. Plus the guy with the SheaToUofM tweeting at him too. Jesus needs to take the wheel on this 1.

I agree, even this year JH waited too long to play Peters. Young guys are playing other places so why not here? That being said, more talented qbs is always good. Peters and mccaffrey can't both play so if one would transfer with Patterson here, they are likely to transfer anyway. What you want us a situation where your qbs start as juniors. Having Patterson would set up that schedule nicely with mccaffrey as a junior when Patterson would graduate.

I can almost guarantee you that if Patterson comes in, someone will go out. Then your depth is no better.
