I heard Jimbo's Christmas tree is at the street for trash pickup... So ya he's leaving. Also heard 10 year deal, $7.5M per year.

A&M a step down but apparently administration was dragging their feet upgrading facilities. Insane how much $$ is both made and dropped into college football considering it's not a private for profit business.

Things like this made make really appreciate Jim Harbaugh. College football stability has become extremly rare due to all the turn around from coaching changes. We have reached some level of stability. Now just win the game baby. Cant wait for 2018!! GO BLUE!

TAMU is an interesting job in some ways. Dollar dollar bills, facilities, Texas talent, SEC. But they have all of 6 top 10 finishes in the last 40 years and 5 of those were under Sherrill/Slocum when they were competing in the SWC and also paying players under the table left and right (hence, Sherrill getting fired in 1988 and then the 1994 probation too). So the Manziel season is their sole legit top 10 finish in the last 40 years. No BCS or Rose, Sugar, Orange or Fiesta bowl wins. Just the 3 Cotton bowl wins, again, consisting of the Manziel season and 2 others back in the mid80s under Sherrill when they were blatantly cheating. A total of 1 conference championship in 22 years in the Big12/SEC. Contrast that with FSU who has 3 national championships, 22 top 10 finishes, and 11 conference championships in the 22 years since TAMU joined the Big12. Historical performance and brand recognition of each program is not really that close.
Also, I'm certainly not going to say that Sumlin is a great coach. But is he what is holding that program back? Prior to Sumlin the only coach with a better winning % since WW2 is RC Slocum and that was built on success in the SWC and again, with so much cheating in the early 90s that they were put on probation for 5 years! TAMU really hasn't had success (without cheating) since at least the 70s. I mean Mike Sherman and Dennis Franchionne were the guys before Sumlin. Not exactly a stellar history.

I think most people would argue FSU has had much more success than A&M (at least since WWII).
Although I can appreciate A&M alums are rabid and have deep pockets, the reality is they've really struggled over the past ±30ish years. I can't really comment on the performance of Texas post-Royal and pre-Brown, but A&M has never really recovered from the Sherill violations. Slocum had a few good years with Sherill's players, but the program never regained stable footing, and Slocum ran the program into the ground the latter part of his tenure.
Since the formation of the original Big 12 - meaning, the SWAC and Big 8 merged - A&M has one conference championship (1994), none with the SEC. In that time, their record against Texas was 12 losses to 7 wins, and they consistently finish outside of the top 25 (14 times since the formation of the original Big 12). They didn't even finish in the top half of the Big 12 South most seasons...
FSU - on the other hand - has had three national titles; three runner ups; 15 conference championships; and, and 14 straight years of finishing in the top-4...and all of that has happened since the formation of the original Big 12.
FSU is a powerhouse program and has proven that on the national stage. Texas A&M has the infrastructure and advantages to potentially be a powerhouse program, but they've not proven it on the field (yet). Maybe Fisher can change that narrative though. Should be interesting for sure, and I'd love for someone to challenge A&M in that division!

(away from the sick child thing).
He's stunk it up at FSU the last two years, if he messes up again this next year, though he's won a championship, he's out, gonzo, kicked to the curb. If he goes to A&M, he's got a huge Texas talent pool to choose from and at least another three years before he's on the hot seat.

I'M LOVING THIS COACHING INSANITY!
Makes me glad to be secure with the best coach to possibly lead this program! Go Blue!
