Wisconsin Injury Report Released
Link to the report.
I posted their report last week here. Updates of note in the past week:
- LB Chris Orr is still out, as well as WRs Jazz Peavy and George Rushing.
- Safety D'Cota Dixon is questionable. He missed last week against Iowa (dressed and warmed up but was not dressed for the game). He played 2 weeks ago against Indiana but missed the week prior against Illinois.
- Starting Center Tyler Biadasz is questionable as well. He's been a solid OL as a freshman for them this year. He was injured in the first half and missed the rest of the game.

Is it safe to assume they have talent/ depth issues on their line?

MO GONNA EAT SATURDAY! Play himself into a top 10 pick before the season is over, if he's not there already. Go Blue!
November 13th, 2017 at 6:23 PM ^
..if they are starting their 2nd string center and the 1st string was a freshman...

I don't think that Gary is hurt enough to miss time. I think the missed time at the end of the game was just a precautionary measure. Why put him out there when we didn't NEED him? Shoulder injuries don't usually see a whole lot of missed time unless you are a QB.

Does it matter? Wisconsin could somehow go without a head coach for two years and recruit terribly and still have a line of massive corn-fed white boys the size of a small city capable of opening up massive holes for a mediocre running back...

We played all 3 of them last year and ended the season ranked 9th. Not top 5 but hardly a final ranking to be ashamed of.
November 13th, 2017 at 7:00 PM ^
besides Michigan, which of those teams have they played this year?
And who were their crossover games?
November 13th, 2017 at 7:03 PM ^
Keep in mind we're also going to play either MSU, OSU, PSU, or you guys in the B1G championship as well.

Can't play a round robin schedule with 14 teams in the conference.
Thanks, Delany.
November 13th, 2017 at 9:13 PM ^
Maybe we should just go stupid crazy - add 2 more teams and have 4 divisions of 4 teams each. 4 Home Regular Season games - 4 Away Games - and a Final Neutral Season game that serves as the Conference Semi-Final between Divisional Winners to get the Conference Championship Game.
November 14th, 2017 at 8:47 AM ^
Best teams to add (as long as we are talking things that will never happen): Notre Dame and West Virginia (even better would be add Pitt and expel Buttgers). Divide up into the
Appalachia Division:
Penn State
West Virginia
Maryland
Pittgers
Midwest Division:
Michigan
Ohio State
Notre Dame
Michigan State
Prairie Division:
Northwestern
Illinois
Indiana
Purdue
Plains Division:
Wisconsin
Minnesota
Iowa
Nebraska
Could do it NFL-style where each division draws one other division to play every year, or could hold some random draw ceremony in the spring of each year to fill in each team's 4 conference games randomly.
November 14th, 2017 at 9:39 AM ^
Do you want to dump Rutgers in favor of Pitt? I'd be up for that although I've enjoyed my trip to NY every other year. For selfish reasons, keep RU.
November 14th, 2017 at 12:10 PM ^
One of those divisions looks just a little tougher than the others.

Yeah, I agree the West is not good this year and hasn't been that great outside of UW recently except for 2015 when Iowa went undefeated. I thought the initial comment was asking how Wisconsin is always tough, and the response was to avoid Michigan, PSU, and OSU. I was simply pointing out that we played all three last year and were still top 10. And of course that we're going to play another one of that group in a couple weeks.
Maybe he was just asking about this year.
November 13th, 2017 at 7:12 PM ^
And play Iowa and Michigan at home. Primed for another 63-0 championship. The west is a joke and always will be. Wisconsin is the best team and Iowa can play well at home. Same shit different year.
November 13th, 2017 at 6:41 PM ^
they had mediocre RBs until Melvin Gordon who actually did turn out to be a good NFL RB (after years of supposedly good RBs that flopped because they were't that good - they just ran through massive holes).
November 13th, 2017 at 6:52 PM ^
I usually judge a good college running back by how they did in college. And we've had a bunch of good ones.
Using the NFL measuring stick, Ron Dayne would be a below average running back.
November 13th, 2017 at 7:04 PM ^
Yes he was a good college running back, just could not play with the big boys. Just like archie griiffin. It is much more physical in the pro's and only the real ones can hack it.

He always needed a couple of steps to get going. Michigan never really had any problems with him.
November 13th, 2017 at 8:03 PM ^
PJ Hill was essentially the college version of The Bus. Hell, everyone thought he would be the next Jerome Bettis. As Michigan running backs this past decade will show, even when you have a hole doesn't mean the RB will always take it.
November 13th, 2017 at 8:23 PM ^
You're thinking of John Clay who was a fucking monster.

James White hasn't done anything in New England............................
November 13th, 2017 at 7:37 PM ^
That's what happens when you recruit for the same system regardless of coach for the last 500 years or so, and indeed, it is one of the reasons I still to this day do NOT understand why Gary Anderson left that job. It's about as close to having it made in terms on some levels as you can get because this script writes itself almost every single year in Madison.
November 14th, 2017 at 10:07 AM ^
Andersen is something like 7-27 at Oregon State after leaving Wisconsin. His best season was last year when OSU tied for 4th in the Pac 12 North. They are 1-9 and 0-7 in the conference this year.
It had to be the cheese... or the cold.
November 13th, 2017 at 6:38 PM ^
I mean the kids a RS freshman so a second year player and he's been good. We start 2 second years guys who are 2 of our best 3 OL so probably not a valid asusmption. Backup may or may not be good, not sure, but not sure you can assume depth issues.
November 13th, 2017 at 10:03 PM ^
November 13th, 2017 at 7:46 PM ^
...but on the depth chart I remember seeing a year ago, nine of the first ten o-linemen were sophomores or younger. I think they only lost one guy off their two-deep, and he was the LT (Ramczyk, now starting for the Saints).
If a freshman played his way past that group, he must be damn good.

Quintez "Bo" Cephus
November 13th, 2017 at 6:35 PM ^
He was, until Cephus became our best WR, then of course he got hurt. And our best LB hasn't played all year either. Starting safety has missed significant time (Dixon), another key LB has missed the whole year (Baun). All in we're going to have 5-6 guys who would have been week 1 starters out for this one. The backups on defense have come in and played their asses off though. Same could be said for the WRs.
November 13th, 2017 at 6:45 PM ^
had worse injury luck than us (although losing a QB is like losing 5 players when your backups are as bad as ours). Remarkable how good you guys have been on defense despite the injuries.
November 13th, 2017 at 6:53 PM ^
At some point the well has to run dry. I mean, there's a reason backups are backups, but yeah, we've been lucky with the next man up.
November 13th, 2017 at 7:02 PM ^
I would say Maryland has had the worst luck injury-wise within the conference this year. Hasn't affected as many positions, but very deeply where it was affected.
November 13th, 2017 at 7:07 PM ^
Yeah, like TrueBlue2003 said, losing a QB is like losing 5 players. So, Maryland has lost 20+ players to injury!!
November 13th, 2017 at 6:33 PM ^
Their starting center sounds like a bad ass
