Karan Higdon unwittingly meets Mike Hart
Cool story, especially the part about him asking for Karan's gloves.

The article said that "Higdon was the first Wolverines player to reach the 200-yard mark since Hart." Last I checked, that guy was a player for the Wolverines.

I have no doubt that he will be in the future. He was very effective at WMU with two 1000 yard RBs and he's been moving up the ranks going from EMU to WMU to Syracuse and now to Indiana. I'm sure he will make his way to Michigan at some point again.

Hart would be an upgrade over Jay Harbaugh. And this is based on...? The awesome play of Indiana's running backs this year? The terrible seasons of Higdon and Isaac?

I'd love it! I love me some Mike Hart! Maybe he could teach the backs how he would mysteriously end up running free on the other side of the pile so often.

This thread prompted me to go back and look at the Higdon highlights from the past two games. Hart and Higdon have some similarity in their running style. Hart looks a bit stronger but Higdon faster. They both run with anger and fall fall forward when being tackled.

The first time few times I saw him. "Looks like Mike Hart, but faster".

Mike Hart, next RB coach at UM. I can't tell enough to know if Jay Harbaugh is a good coach, but I trust that he has those genes and that knowledge in him. But we know he isn't a RB coach by trade; he's a multi-functional coach. I'd love to see Hart back here soon.

I might take him over Fitz. Fitz was at his best when he had Denard to draw most of the attention away; he wasn't the same when he was the primary running threat.

Member how he always fell forward? Member when he rolled over a purdue defender, got up and then took it to the house?

I thought Karan had called MSU "Little Brother."
Looking at that shot of Hart leaping into the end zone over ND, I'm reminded of all the angst about "piping" on the jerseys. If only we'd known what lay in the future...

It's still unclear to me why the MGoBlog is so fixated on RB as the position that needs a coaching change. If anything I'd say it's been our most consistent position group this season.

Higdon derped some woulda-been-huge runs with poor vision early in the season. RB blitz pickup has been an issue and helped get Speight broken.
RBs are probably the best group on our offense, but that's not saying much.

Higdon missed some cutback lanes early on, but has made the right cut much more often lately. That's what you'd expect from a first-year starter if he's receiving competent coaching - he should get better as the year goes on.
As for pass protection, I put that much more on the OL. Most backs are just so-so in pass blocking, for the straightforward reason that they're a lot smaller than the guys they have to block. Our problem was that our OL was such a turnstile that our backs were having to be superstar pass protectors to keep our QB clean, and that was asking too much.

..would really like to see Michigan Mike Hart return home as our RB Coach.
