What will be the narrative when we beat Penn St

Submitted by ldevon1 on

Will they give us credit, or will they just call Penn St over-rated? I honestly don't care, because we will still have work to do, but after this weekend, the talking heads making excuses for Clemson just astonishes me. We lost to a rival with a back up QB, after only giving up 14pts, and they lost to Syracuse giving up 27pts with what we keep hearing is the best defensive line in football. Their starting QB played most of the 1st half and they replaced him with a 4 star dual threat QB, but they still get credit for losing the game. I think we take this game this weekend. I'm nervous as hell, but I'm nervous no matter who we play.

It’s a white out... We haven’t played well at night... O’korn and receivers have not given me evidence they can spread the defense... PSU will load the box on us... Higdon will bring it, but...

I will be shocked and elated if Michigan wins. If this happens, everyone will dismiss Michigan and the game as a fluke.

Here’s hoping for shock and jubilation. Go Blue!

You can't talk about narratives till you beat.....-well, I guess if they beat PSU sat night the narrative might be:

UofM's offense finally squeezes a big play out of O'Korn, leading to pickles everywhere!

Don Brown takes the pickle-less jar and bottles up Barkley and McSorely in it, leaving them to choke on the brine.

I would like it to be done my John Facenda (the NFL films voice guy):

"But on this day John O'Korn would not be denied as he led the Michigan Wolverines to a stunning victory over the #2 ranked Penn State Nittany Lions."

Up until this point, games have seemed to feature specific, glaring problems. O-line issues, QB turnovers, penalties, etc. If Michigan's offense can sustain their new found running game, lean on a dominant defense, and not turn it over-- they'll be in this game. If the passing game can connect on a few key plays, that may be all it takes. We have yet to see what this offense looks like when its not regularly derailing itself. Look out when it comes together. I trust the coaches to get us there at some point this season. Go blue. Beat Penn State.

Put on by Michigan en route to their 24-10 manhandling of PSU. That's why I love College Football Dan, anything can happen. From the folks here at ABC, we hope you enjoyed the game and we wish you all a good night.

I really hope we get the victory. Though if we do win... the narrative will easily be that PSU was overrated and hadn't played any good defenses. Most of the talk will be about PSU not being for real.

We haven't looked very good in the last couple of games and our dreadful offense has gained a lot of attention on sports TV shows. Therefore, we aren't going to suddenly receive a lot of praise as being a very good team.

We'll have to continue to win and finish the season strong to get most people to change their minds about us. They'll just be immediately changing their feelings about PSU.

"You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em"  Kenny Rodgers

O'Korn is a slinger.  Let him throw some 50/50 balls to the outside.  Let him sling.  You've got to know when to go all in!

Headlines read:

"Greatest margin of victory over a #2 ranked program in NCAA history."

And Marty and Jennifer became assholes.

I dont get this narrative that OKorn was good against Purdue. He still locked onto his primary receiver and held the ball too long. He was able to make it work a bit but he still wasnt that good.

You're just reaching to try to fit this into your narrative of what you think O'Korn is.

Regardless of how bad you think he is as UM's quarterback, you have to acknowledge that he played well overall in that game. It's one thing to pick out isolated weaknesses and areas for improvement, but to try to be the contarian here to boost your own ego is tired and annoying.

Unless you really, truly don't get that he was good against Purdue, in which case we need to have a different discussion.

If the game is a defensive struggle and it comes down to Nordin's leg and FGs, then the narrative is that Michigan D's is supreme and the O's continues to be rudderless.
