I still think TX is overrated. Time will tell. Herman is a good coach but it's year one and TX has been a dumpster fire for quite some time (as a blueblood, so it's all relative)

Most coaches (read: men not named Harbaugh) can't walk into a dumpster fire and turn it into a top 25 squad, and we haven't seen Herman do it at this level yet. Being preseason #23 is purely the hype machine.

A ton of open seats in Happy Valley today. I'll chalk some of it up to the weather, which looks miserable, but still, a pretty uninspiring showing for your reigning conference champs.

I grew up in PA and have attended a bunch of Penn State games.
IMO, there is no bigger dichotomy in CFB between Penn State's big-game environment and Penn State's mundane-game environment.
People are used to seeing night-game white-out environments at Penn State, so they think it's always like that. But the environment at a noon game against a weak opponent can be pretty pathetic.
We have some of this ourselves at Michigan, but nothing as bad as what you often see at PSU.
