Matt Godin tears ACL
Matt Godin suffered a torn ACL during a preseason game against the New Orleans Saints.
Godin will undergo surgery to repair the damage after sustaining the season-ending injury.
Godin had impressed many during training camp, showing power and a good football IQ as he tried to make the team. A good athlete for his 6-foot-6 size, he has developmental potential as a DE in Houston’s 3-4 scheme.

My heart dropped before I recalled he was no longer on our roster.

... but I think your post seems to be overlooking the way in which the title of Jon's post "contexturalizes" his comment.

Poor guy. I met him at the aiport recently and he was very nice and was excited to get back to training camp. Hopefully he makes it.

(Plain old Houston-hating gods, no specific position necessary.)
Was happy to see he was getting preseason playing time, and considering he was playing with enough passion to get a serious injury... May he heal and have another go at it next year.

Well this just totally sucks. Bad way to start a rainy day. Good luck to him with the recovery - and with finding a spot next season. I thought he'd be a good depth player...

Best of luck to him in his recovery may it be speedy and full.

The ACL will be repaired. Godin shall return. Opponents will be destroyed.

Honestly, going on IR and taking a redshirt year isn't the worst thing for a rookie. You get to be around the team and in an NFL program for a year, without the struggle and week-to-week pressure. Best of luck to Matt in his recovery.

Fuck! I know Matt pretty well and he's definitely a great guy, down to earth, smart, honest, funny, humble!
