The Herd on Michigan this year
This video is from last week and I dont remember seeing if it was posted by anyone else, sorry if it was! Colin talks about how he does not agree with the USA today article about Michigan being a mystery this year and believes they will be really good again this year.

Fuck Colin Cowherd and his bullshit hot take style of sports entertainment. I don't give a damn if he thinks we'll go 12-0 or 0-12.

I'd say eight national title rings and countless conference titles separate Harbaugh from those two.
Come on man. I love Harbaugh but he is not on either of those guy's levels yet.

Gonna disagree. Look at coaching results when considering what programs looked like when each coach took over. Both Saban and Meyer took over powerhouse programs that were only recently on a downturn path. Both were populated with pretty decent players (at every HC stop they've made). Harbaugh took over historically crap programs and turned them into year over year winners - at every HC stop. Bring in the NFL conversation, and neither Meyer nor Saban are even in the conversation.
Harbaugh has proven himself every bit as good a HC as either Saban or Meyer has. Put those guys in at Cal Berkely (prior to thier NC's and name recognition) and see how they fare in turning that place into a perenial big time winner. Meyer did it at Utah, but it was nowhere near Stanford's rung (and he'll never be confused for an NFL level HC).

But neither of them has coached in the Championship game in the highest level of football that exists either.
To say he is not on their level when he has shown sustained success on an even higher level is just misguided.

Conflicted. Cowherd is a hot-take generator but he likes Michigan. Plus I met him once and he was surprisingly pleasant.

be very suprised at how likeable most media people would be in real life. They're all good at communicating and being engaging, and that's why they're the ones with the shows.

I was surprised by his take. My perception was that he didn't view Michigan very favorably (not exactly sure why). I was surprised when he said he could easily see 11-1 with our only loss @ Penn State this year.

has been one of the more consistent Michigan supporters the last two years.

That's what I've gathered from this thread and why I expressed my confusion for my perception being the opposite, so, good to know going forward!

that there is one media pundit who hasn't jumped on the "Harbaugh needs to win a natty NOW" schitck due to exhausting themselves from overcoverage the last two years.
People are donwvoting OP, but I thought it was a decent video.

But his "Punch them right in the forehead" comment was pretty great,

but when I did listen, he never struck me as "hot take" guy. He might have an opinon that people dont like, but he was always able to back those opinions up with sound reasoning. He might say things that large swaths of people disagree with, and sometimes, he is wrong, but at least he thinks things through. He's not like professional feces flinger Skip Bayless who makes up outlandish shyte solely to get a rise out of people then realizes he has to have "reasons" so he continues with outlandish crap based in nonsense. At least Cowherd is rational, even if he may say thngs people dont agree with.

I think people sometimes get him confused with Bayless. When Cowherd was on ESPN radio, I enjoyed his show and his opinons. Bayless, Finebaum, and now that tool Will Kane are all on my "cannot listen to as you make my ears bleed" list.

Colin's schtick wears thin if I listen too much, but he can be sharp once or twice a week. I remember Jerry Seinfeld was on maybe two ago and convincingly said he listened to him every day.

The guy is kind of a jerk on the air sometimes, but he is one of the smarter analysts, particularly THIS TIME.
August 11th, 2017 at 4:11 PM ^
but i agree with a lot of what he says...not just about this but in generall..he uses data to back it up and its hard to argue. Even when he riffs on how good our rivals are, its all based on facts, and i hate it but he is right a lot.
In this case, i am all for him ;-)

with this. It's hard to turn a down program around overnight. Usually takes a couple years when you have a good coach. The one other thing programs do is up the ante on recruiting. Harbaugh has done that too. MSU was taking as many top talented kids in Michigan as we were over the last several years. Last year, they got 2 of the top 20. UM got the rest.
OSU will still define the season for us though. Have to win that one at home this year.
