It's summer, many of us have been chasing fish. Anyone have any tales to share? My biggest fish this Summer has been a 23" walleye on a crawler.

Not trying to stir the pot here, but I have never seen anyone fight a fish that didn't have an instant smile on their face. Fishing and catching are not the same thing. My recommendation is to do it at least three times before you call it quits. If you can afford a charter or guide, go fish with a pro for something that will scream line off your reel. Doesn't have to be saltwater either. Some of the river catfish in the Carolinas will go 40, 60 and even over 100 pounds.

I get the same kind of rush fishing that I do when I'm in Vegas. I don't view those periods of time waiting as boring, but full of anticipation for the next time I've got one on the line. I can also say that the more you do it, the better you get. The better you get, the more you'll do it. Kind of like golf.

I just returned from a fly-in trip to Canada that was amazing. We saw moose, bear, beavers and eagles among many things.

We caught walleye and northern pike until are arms were ready to fall off. The biggest was a 31" pike, not huge for the lake but a blast to catch all the same. Most of the pike I caught were on a spoon, the bigger one was while trolling an Erie dearie.

My three year old nephew caught a 30 inch gar pike on Rush Lake with his Meijer spiderman pole. He used a spinner and had a small assist from his mother who you would never decribe as an angler. May have been the funniest thing Ive seen this year.

Haven't been able to fly fish my usual spots this spring and summer. We are seeing record flows due to the snow melt in the Owens basin in the area that I like to fish. I personally don't mind because it gives the river some needed time to refresh and hopefully these increased flows allows the fish to feed on all the bugs that get turned up. In the mean time I've been kayak fishing the bays and surf fishing. It's been steady so far but nothing to really write about. I've been using lighter tackle in the bay which makes even small fish fun to catch.

I'm heading up to Lake Leelanau next weekend for a little fishing with my girls, who are 2 and 4. Last time we were up we caught and ate a few trout out of a small stream just off lake Michigan. My 2 year old even caught an 8" Brown Trout.

Just got my first baitcaster a few weeks back and have been loving it. Fish mostly the Thornapple and Grand Rivers in GR. Been having decent luck on the Keitech and Whopper Plopper with a good mix of largies and smallies. Just bought a kayak though, so will be trying my luck on Reeds Lake soon.

Amazed by the lack of bickering, but we kept the outing short & sweet.

3 of us in a glorified rowboat so the kids were using hookless lures . . . lol they never noticed.

My son named his white, vaguely frog-shaped lure "Mr. Cheese"
My daughter named her silver spinnerbait "Sparkle".

They only got tangled with each other a few times.

Biggest fish caught was going to win ALL OF THE CANDY IN THE ENTIRE HOUSE!!!
(there is currently no candy in our house)

I caught one 14" LGMBass that was unanimously named "Captain Bass-tastic" and released.

Headed home & docked before the bugs came out.

Kids are fun.

But my father is. He turned 65 this year, so I bought him an Alaska fishing trrip for his birthday. We go this week, but unfortunately Alaska Fish & Game just closed the King Salmon season for sport fishermen in Cook Inlet. We're also doing an Anchorage brewery tour, so take that Fish & Game!

Hooked a 4 foot black tip shark while fishing for cobia a month ago on a trip to the panhandle. Down here again this weekend and will be targeting Pompano from the surf the next couple days. Got lucky with the sand fleas yesterday so I've got plenty of bait. The kids went crabbing today and got enough to eat for the evening. Good times.

No trophies but all deliciously baked after sitting in the fridge for an hour with salt, freshly ground pepper (not too much) and a teaspoon of sprinkled brown sugar.....eaten and washed down with copious amounts of ice cold lager.

Not much real fishing these days, but my Wife is a Finn(Finnish) and we are planning a July trip to Copper Harbor.  I've never been up that far so I'm looking forward to it.

It was a while ago, I caught a 33" snook near the east tip of DeSoto last spring. It was my last trip with my father as he passed away this February. We had some wonderful fishing trips - Alaska, Baja California and a handful of times leaving out of Tampa Bay and fishing the gulf or the flats in the bay. These times will always be treasured.

We put 8 nice Lake Huron walleye in the boat yesterday. First time fishing there so it took a bit to figure out what they wanted. Heading to the UP to chase brook trout in August. Very excited for that trip as I have never caught a stream trout.

Nothing but skunks and bad misses for me this summer. Lost a beautiful 2-3lber in Central Park Lake on Memorial Day weekend while the tourists watched. Skunked smallie fishing in the Russian River a couple of weeks ago. Really need to get off the schnied.

Landed a 46" northern almost two weeks ago. An absolute hog! Complete with a Michigan cap and my brother on the net. Doesn't get much better.
