To be fair, playing the Joe Paterno of more recent vintage - that is to say, the one in his late 70s and into his 80s - seems easy enough. For the most part, you sit in the press box and appear to coach but actually do nothing. You also see children victimized and do nothing in his case either. Pacino really just has to sit there and let things happen around him really.

You also stand on the sidelines and do nothing but pace. I had the displeasure of going to the Penn State game at the big house when RichRod was here. The game was a sh*t show as all RichRod games were. But I had an up close view of JoePa doing nothing but pacing for 3 hours while his assistants did all the coaching and were, you know, paying attention to what was happening on the field. I always felt like it was a joke that he kept getting credit for wins year after year when he looked like he barely knew where he was half the time. But you're right. This is the easiest part to play. You don't coach. You don't stop child rape. You simply exist while your family, work place and the entire state constantly tell you how wonderful you are.

a google search of executive producer Barry Levinson (Rain Man, Sleepers, Wag the Dog -- all anti-establishment movies to my knowledge) leads me to believe penn state is not going to look favorable in this film.

Is there really some huge call to watch a reenactment of an old, probably senile demi-god in a podunk Pennsylvania town ignore the sexual assault of children for years?  I mean, that doesn't sound remotely entertaining.
