at the big theatre in Southfield.  My friends and I were graduating from high school that spring and all went down to see it.  You had to buy tickets days in advance because of the huge demand and few number of theatres showing it.  Great memory.

I saw it opening day with my friend. I think I was 9.

I came home and BEGGED my parents to take me again that night.

I wanted to go again and again, but my parents told me I'd seen it twice already.

It obviously doesn't hold up like our memories, but for the time, it was revolutionary.

As I've gotten older I came to appreciate the Empire more. They represent peace and stability. The rebels offer future chaos if they win due to consisting if patchwork alliances. Based in the movies most Empire planets had fairly light yolks with minimal Empire interference. In return they didn't have to worry about invasion from other systems. If the rebels win eventually the human dynamic of conflict will play out with less peace and stability.
