Sigh of Relief/Other Games Open Thread
Currently we have Seton Hall leading Arkansas 66-62, Oregon up big at the half, and Jacksonville State has an early lead of 8-2 against Louisville.
Louisville just had a sequence where they missed three layups and a dunk. So not exactly the offensive juggernaut we faced today.
I'm on the other side of that one. For once, I had a strong day yesterday - only one miss. This one hurt my chances a bit.
Oh well, I'm sure my braket will collapse any time now.
I was thisclose to picking Xavier over MD, but couldn't pull the trigger.
Ira Weintraub pointing how how shit Mark Turgeon is saved me on that one.
One brain fart foul away from a perfect first day.
How the heck did we beat SMU. They look unstoppable right now.
What's interesting is they really didn't beat anybody besides Cinci. Dominated a two bid league, beat Cinci two out of three times. Only other tournament teams they played were us and USC, who they lost to.
And we dominated them by 22 and while holding them to 54 points!
I had sky-high hopes for this team after that tournament.
It's so great to see them playing at that level....even higher with Walton playing so well.
How the heck did we beat SMU. They look unstoppable right now.About that...
Come on Jacksonville State! A JSU upset would be rather pleasing...
I'm torn. I'd like an easier path to the sweet 16. But I'd also like revenge.
Eh if they lose to JSU Louisville fans are upset/disappointed and we get and easier path. Seems like a win-win to me.
If you could guarantee me a win on Sunday, I'd take it over Louisville of course. But for now, I'll take the path of least resistance.
I mean you're right, of course. If we beat Jacksonville State, Rhode Island, Miami, Dayton, and Saint Mary's to win the national championship, I'll be ecstatic still.
that's what we'll have to shut down. Of course, if we shoot like we did today, there won't be many rebounds for them to take on us. Then we just need a few defensive rebounds and we're set
I don't get it. Is it not possible for us to be a good rebounding team and shooting team?
oSu seems to have the combination down.
Oh well if shooting lights out is the other option, I'll take it lol.
Cards seizing control. Jacksonville cannot get a rebound.
Walton will destroy Snider on Sunday.
Going to need to be good on the defensive glass on sunday. Probably aren't going to score 91 on louisville's defense and if we give up the number of offensive rebounds we did today we aren't going to be able to win that game.
Louisville seems much less effective at converting those boards than Oklahoma State was.
Well one of those teams was top 10 all year in a better conference, I think L'ville is the better team.
They're juuuuuuuust a little better defensively than the Cowpokes, yes.
Maybe we can keep Louisville's squad from showing up on the court Sunday by locking the doors of all the brothels in Indianapolis Saturday night.
I was just part of a very spirited debate about the F-1 call in the Seton Hall / Arkansas game, one that even had a live demonstration involved in my own family room. I personally think that - by rule - that was the correct call, but over on Twitter now, there's some tense moments over this one.
Really bad scheduling here, there's going to be no active games for like five to eight minutes.
Enfield and USC should win this game. They're the best 2nd half team in the nation and have the most come backs in the country from halftime double deficits
Wish they would have saved their bad game for Sunday.
Texas Southern apparently has a seven footer with a 40 inch vertical.
Our guards are going to have their hands full with this full court press shit LVille likes to run.
Reggie Miller's halftime analysis of the USC/SMU game: "Both teams did well to make shots"
Okay buddy.
Is it a gamble to leave in your best player with three fouls and 15 minutes to go?
Thanks, Reggie.
If USC ever showed up at tip, they would be amazing.
This is another really good first round (2nd for USC) match-up.
SMU is talented, and USC has some serious athletes. If they played with even a little bit of discipline, they could be very dangerous.
Anyone know how to watch replays of games? I wanna watch parts of the Michigan game I missed.
Jacksonville State's center has a career high. He's made a couple threes, so maybe Wagner can get going.
Louisville is basically a more talented/experienced version of Minnesota. Funny how that works.
for SMU is a beast.
Both teams hitting huge shots down the stretch.
I love the tourney - especially when we're still in it!
Man, that one messed up my bracket.
Dammit, first game I got wrong and I have them beating Baylor.
