MBB vs Maryland thread (& Sparty goes down to Penn St, woot-woot!!!) Thread

Home vs Maryland on the Deuce (ESPN2). Could be a big win to get to above .500 and a mini-win streak going. Somehow we're -7 to Kenpom and I don't understand that; to me we should be underdogs here and I'm pessimistic we can hang with the more talented Terps team. We shall see. And yes, Sparty just lost to the same Penn St. (in Philadelphia for some reason) WE damn near lost to 3 nights ago.

Wish we could stop teams from shooting ~50% or higher from deep against us. Maryland shoots their average and we're winning this game by close to double digits

When you have multiple defensive liabilities, you have to play zone and live with your opponent shooting jump shots. If they knock down contested 3's, so be it. Layup lines are inexcusable.

Needs to be so much better. Sad that a Senior doesn't realize how important the clock was in that posession.

Play a half and play terrible D and this is what happens. Looking more and more like an NIT team.

This blog is fantastic.  Ace relying solely on analytics for most of his reasoning kills me.  What kills me more is there's a cult following for him and Brian.  So when someone points out JB's philosophy is flawed, they will come back and go "Michigan has the 18th efficient offense in the nation" as if I give a crap about that when we are losing to 4 freshmen at Iowa.

Maryland shot 10-15 from 3 and 51% overall. That's just awful. Since the '13-'14 run, all I've seen is mediocre basketball that's about to miss the tourney for the 2nd time in 3 years.

The team has no fire. They look soft. Recruiting is average. I think it's time for Beilein to retire.

Good thing we signed such a great recruiting class...Oh wait. It's a 6 man roto and it's hurting us. They're completely different than the MSG games. Beilein is on thin ice.

this team will be lucky to get to 9-9 in the BIG; likely NIT bound unless walton gets his sh*t together.  simpson has a helluva lot of improvement to do as well on both ends of the court.  he's a frosh but i think most expected more from him.  if he doesn't make a huge leap next year, this team is in real trouble again.

if the combo of matthews/poole/livers can adequately replace irvin, that leaves the PG as the huge question mark.
