Sam Webb NON-NAJEE Updates from AAA Practices via WTKA

Submitted by ColeIsCorky on

Sam actually touches on this whole Alabama flight saga if you care to listen to it, but there's nothing real positive or negative that really needs to be added to the discussion. If you care to hear about it, listen to the podcast. We will know where Najee goes on Monday.

On to the other stuff.

Chuck Filiaga - Prepare for a Hello post. Nothing much on performance, but it doesn't sound like much has changed as far as expectations.

Donovan Peoples-Jones/Tarik Black - Tarik Black is "the revelation" to Sam. Tarik Black is now right there with Nico Collins in Sam's opinion (which Sam is very bullish on Nico). He's been the "big play threat" so far, more so than DPJ. Sounds like we should expect a rankings bump, which I believe he's already a composite Top 150. DPJ is still DPJ, but it sounds like Tarik is performing swimmingly.

Ambry Thomas - Going to really be a factor in Michigan's secondary as a Freshman.

Deron Irving-Bey - Looks like he's going to start on the DL for the East team. Not refined with technique so much, but he's really fast off the edge and in that fashion has been turning heads.

Jay Tufele - "Unblockable." Not very big, but "they can't get their hands on him." Don't believe things are trending well for him, but he's still one of Michigan's top targets. I haven't heard about Michigan being completely out of it for him, so there's still at least some hope there.

Aubrey Solomon - While some of you are writing him off and/or don't want to hear his name again after the drama the other day, it sounds like the staff has been pursuing him even harder now. Sam isn't saying Michigan will get him, but mentioned the word "weird" in regards to his recruitment. Michigan not completely out of the picture, and it's hard to tell if maybe this piece of drama between him and Michigan actually helped Michigan's chances? Who knows. If you don't want to hear more about him, just ignore this section. Either way keep your expectations low for your sanity.

This is perphaps the strangest/most dramatic non-Signing Day recruiting season I've ever followed, and it looks like these last four weeks will continue in that trend.

We have a killer class so far, so no matter what happens between Najee, Tufele and Solomon (and others of course), we are still going to end up with a top 5 class. DIB and Tarik Black are two that I would expect to see a rankings bump so far based off this new information.

Back to work. Hope this helps start off your weekend in a positive direction. Have a good day, ladies and gents.

Link to podcast. Sam starts talking about half-way in.

I think you're correct on this point. There "is" a little to back it up though, Harris just made it through his first healthy season since he arrived in Ann Arbor. He saw some snaps, but most important it has been noted that Speight is really good friends with Harris and that they have been forming a lot of chemistry together. Which leads me to believe that this off-season Harris might move up the depth chart and get quite a bit of action this season. I'm still holding on to some hope for Harris, as he was a highly touted 2 sport athlete and usually after having an injury that held him out so long he just needed a year to get back into the game. I'm thinking he makes some major progress by the season starts.

Harbaugh and Co are giving us a lot to be excited about. Can't wait to close the door on '17 class and start hyping Team 138 and the '18 class.
It's great to be a Michigan Wolverine'

+1000 for useful, informative recruiting information.   This was almost as cathartic as the ongoing epic negbang thread (check it out if you haven't.   It involves some tasty morsels like MGoHatter being cuckolded by MeanJoe).

I'm on my way to San Antonio now for the game tomorrow. It's become a tradition and a trip we look forward to every year. I usually post interesting things that happen during the autograph session after the game. Some of the memorable things that have happened: 1. Talking and joking around with Jake Butt ( who was tiny back then) and an injured Chris Fox. They seemed like good friends. 2. Derrick Greens mom hinting at where he was going to commit by saying " well you know what they say, blue and yellow make green". He commited a few weeks later. 3. Listening to a guy dressed in all Clemson gear telling Levert Hill he needed to get up there soon if he wanted a spot. 4. Meeting Mason Cole and his family. Great kid and family 5. Jordan Elliot and his family being excited to see someone in all Michigan gear (me) at the game. Actually wanted to take a pic with me.......decomitted days later (maybe that ones not so great)

Non-Najee is the Non-GMO of MGoBlog.  "Excuse me, Is this thread "non-najee"?"  "Why yes it is.  All our threads are 100% Najee free"  "Good . . . good, does it come with Peppers?"   "No, we removed them from the menu. Peppers are not ever coming back either"

Speaking of Peppers, in the 1st segment Ira's counterpart Larry Lage (with the Associated Press) apparently knows personally the three agents that have been tagged as Jabrill's future agent (or agents who sources claimed he signed with already). He contacted all three of them directly to which they all completely denied being his agent. I dont know how trustworthy that is or to what extent his relationship with those agents are, but I found it interesting nonetheless.

Solomon can take his talents somewhere else. I get that he's a kid and we all said stupid shit when we were his age, but I don't really care to have a guy on the team who publicly decides to tell the world "Fuck Michigan."

Would rather have a guy who wants to be here.
