Edit: For those who are having trouble accessing the previous thread, Aubrey was caught on another recruit's periscope saying "F*** Michigan" and expressing bitterness about the staff getting his name wrong (among other less than flattering comments).

"It is just a game."

One of the most inane and solipsistic comments that appears on this site. It is a game, but it is also a huge industry and a career for thousands of people (players, staff, and secondary businesses and support industries). Saying "its just a game" about football is like saying that all industries beyond the ones that provide our basic needs, i.e., water, food, shelter, and medical care, are superfluous.

I have a deep personal connection to U of M and I love the university more than most. That being said, he is a kid talking to other kids. I do not believe that this should change anything.

Side note, I have heard that some of the Michigan commitss say he is just interested in the hype which is not a flattering trait but makes his comments meaningless as he says what the audiennce wants to hear. Also heard our commits are pretty confident about Harris.

I'm happy for the kid. He learned a tough life lesson that I didn't learn until I was about ten years older than he is. Basically, you talk shit about someone, it will ALWAYS get back to them, and then you're gonna have to own it.

Did he apologise because he sincerely regrets saying it or like most 18 year olds only apologised because he got caught?

His trending to Bama makes me raise an eyebrow as to the priority placed on some of the non-football related points of his mothers questionaire. Not that you cant be successful with an Alabama diploma in hand but its not even close to what you get at Michigan in terms of quality of education and alumni network. I am biased though so maybe Alabama checked off all her points to their satisfaction and I just cant see it.

I wish the kid the best wherever he goes. Hopefully he makes the right decision and comes to Michigan.

is that I am in my mid 30s, and now know some 18 year old HS student, that most likely won't go to Michigan and I will never remember, has said fuck michigan and now apologized for saying that. I follow recruiting to a certain level, and know it is super important to programs success, but it still weirds me out some times.

I'm ok that he apologized. I'm ok if he didn't. Some times I'd rather someone just stand by their fuck you statements if they mean them. Fake apologies can be worse than just saying yeah I said that and that's what I meant. oh well, leave the kid alone either way.

I'll preface this that I actually watched the video... and it was obvious he was hamming it up for the Georgia guys. Former UM commit Holloman was filming so I'm sure Solomon was playing to that too. So if you're upset at what he said... an 17-18 year old kid. You need to just take a step back off the ledge and take some deep breaths. It will be alright. I just saw his apology and some of the responses to it are borderland insane. If you getting fired up about stuff like this you need to just vent somewhere else than the kids Twitter account.

Was it recently?

It doesn't seem to make sense if it was.

He couldn't possibly STILL be upset over the original incident could he?

Why would he be mad at us?  He brought his mom here and they had a wonderful time, right?

If somebody punches my mother i will kill them slowly and without mercy..If they punch my mother then apologize i will kill them slowly but with a touch of mercy..However, if they punch my mother then apologize and add a Go Blue after it, i will give them a glass of water and ask them what would be their preference in getting this over with.

Good luck Mr Solomon, if you ever line up against UM i hope you get destroyed for 4 qtrs.

Love it. Some people on here are giving him the benefit of the doubt. Great. Mercy is good. But I find it funny that if he were not a coveted recruit, almost every comment on here would be fuck him, especially if he was an 18 year old OSU or MSU fan and/or student. My how things change when there is still a chance he comes here.

Spoiler alert: He isn't coming here. Move on and let him go to Georgia or Alabama where he can say fuck Michigan all he wants.

if you're imagining things and finding them funny.

There are some folks hoping he'll recommit, and it looks like only some of them are fully serious.  Otherwise there's a fair share of "nice that he apologized but time to move on".  I mean, there's no stupid like HS stupid, but if he's not defending Michigan then he ain't coming here.  Which means for the most part, the apology was accepted as-is with no expectation or even necessarily desire he'll suit up in maize & blue.

I don't know how you see the world, but we aren't all a bunch of hypocritical fuckheads.

I would rather let the coaching staff evaluate and pursue as they see fit and not have a bunch of petulant internet tough guy comments interfere.

Since one staffer's mistakes have already interfered, lets just lay low.

I'm not buying it.  he makes a public statement like that over  a video interview then posts an apology letter on Social media.  Sounds cowardly to me and the easiest way out.  Even if this kid is 18 years old, he's learning a hard lesson in the consequences of his actions.

There's a saying that the measure of one's character is what one does when no one's watching. I think Solomon's statement in Holloman's Periscope is likely how he really feels. That said, not every recruit will think as highly of M as we all do, and that's OK. Class move by Aubrey to follow up with the apology. Best of luck to him wherever he decides to play his college ball. Go Blue!

It's been how long since the spelling fiasco? Michigan apologized for their mistake and tried to move on, and he obviously hasn't gotten over it.

Sounds a bit hypocritical... Don't ya think?

Dude was acting like he is High School, shocking! Pretty sure the GA and Bama coaches will be giving him high five's over it. Hopefully he learns from this and better's himself.

Solomon did say Michigan wasn't recruiting him as hard as Bama and GA were, maybe he's a little butt-hurt over Michigan not giving him as much attention?

I believe some of our committs feel the same way about Ohio State and other schools. Of course they haven't been foolish enough to let someone record them saying it!

That's what I can't get over....I understand being upset and crossing us off his list. But this guy seems to have a vendetta over a simple mistake. Get over yourself, kid! If you are that thin skinned I hate to see what you're like if you get benched or passed over wherever you end up.
