OT - Bye week question about Duluth Trading Company

Submitted by WhoopinStick on
As a guy that doesn't like to go to the mall to buy clothes, and given that Duluth Trading Company is one of the primary sponsors of the Big Ten Network, I've thought about giving them a try.  However, as I've never seen any of their product in person I thought I'd reach out to the MGo community.

If you've tried Duluth Trading Company what is your opinion of their products, do their sizes run true, and are they a company that you would recommend?

Let me just say that THIS is the sort of apparel thread that has been missing from MGoBlog.

In all seriousness though, as it is a bye week, we can let some questions go, and hey, some people are in need of such advice. Not too much such questions.

liked it very much. thinking about renting a house on Lake Superior next summer. can't speak for the clothes, however, the comnercials care quite creative. So basically I have nothing to contribute to this discussion. But let me know when we get to the drinking thread, because I'm working my way through a New Glarus variety pack.

Expensive but worth it. Stuff lasts forever. Sizes seem to be pretty accurate, but I judge most other stuff by their sizes now. Highly recommended.

While we're asking BTN questions, has anyone tried the Ro-Tel queso dip? And how is the Round Up herbicide? Does that work?

I have a family member who I see once, maybe twice a year. Every time I see him he talks about Duluth Trading Company's apparel for 15 minutes. He obviously loves it.

Love their oversized tees and henleys. And anyone that runs those creative and hilarious ads should be rewarded with our business. I say "Buy, Buy, Buy".

I'll take the question seriously. I too had the same thought and ordered from them a few weeks ago. I ordered their buck naked underwear to give it a try. As their tag line goes, it's not 100% no stink, sweat, or ride up. It is by far more superior then my previous all cotton from Eddie Bauer. I was actually sad that I had to go back to my old ones as I only bought two pairs to give it a try. The size was close for me, and got more comfortable as the day went, and just didn't have to fiddle with adjustments. The downside to any of their stuff is price from my purchase.

I have a couple tshirts from them and they're really good quality. Other than that and their commercials (Which are fantastic), I don't know a whole lot about their products.

I have three pairs of the Wild Boar Mocs, and they are awesome. One each of oil-rubbed black and dark brown for business casual, one pair of pig suede gun smoke for around the house work, runs to Home Depot, etc. Had to replace the insole with some Dr. Scholls, but they are great.

I've been wondering as well. After sifting through the usual snark from the usual folks there is some good stuff here, and I believe I will try dtc

I only wear pocket tees and jeans for work.  Prior to DTC, I had always settled for inferior tees.  These guys understand the finer points - fully endorse.  Bought 4 a while back (wearing well), and just ordered 4 more yesterday.  Well made.  Collar is properly stitched and comfy/roomy fit.  All their tees are "tall" sized, at 3" longer than the norm.  Quality weight knit.  Know that they offer a "snug" and "roomy" fit (my words, forget theirs) unless you're buying B&T, where I think (OBVI) they're all "roomy".  At $23 bucks for B&T size (when 4-or-more, less for normal sizes) these are cheaper and much better than my previous go-to.

The Buck Naked boxer-briefs are the best by far that I've ever worn. I also wear the ball-room jeans. Both great , well made products. The Deluth flex shorts are awesome for working around the yard. They are kind of stretchy and comfortable when bending or kneeling a lot. I would recommend all of the above.

My wife has 2 pairs of the fire hose pants. She likes them. They are tough and thick. Good for hunting in brambles/thorns. They have a masculine cut, though. Definitely for work/hunting/gardening-not for out on the town. I tried the men's but found them too baggy and not that comfortable. I returned mine. My good friend who also attended UM likes the outerwear-rain jackets and gloves. He finds them very durable for Michigan's outdoor activities. Hope this helps.

My wife and I shopped at the Duluth Trading company store in Duluth, Minnesota this summer. Everything was expensive but I had to try something. I purchased 3 different style pairs of briefs just for the heck of it. They are the best underwear I own. At $20.00 each they are also the most expensive briefs that I own. $70.00 for a flannel shirt made in Vietnam, didn’t keep me in the store very long. To each his own.

Love their advertising.  Maybe I will give the boxer briefs a try.  At $20/pair they are still less than 1/2 of the cost of Tommy John underware.  And they really have jeans called Ballroom jeans?  Haha that is awesome.

Carhartt - the original Work Wear Company - has been around since 1889 and is and has always been headquartered right here in Michigan. If you are a fan of Michigan - the Leaders and Best - then Carhartt is the brand for you. The premier and premium brand that is built to last. GO BLUE, GO CARHARTT!!

They are by far my favorite pants and I barely wear Jeans anymore.

I wear them for work every day and they have held up very well.

They will shrink and only come in even size lengths so over time you may

end up one day noticing you're wearing floods and should have gotten the

longer length.

I've learned my lesson and now buy them a bit too long and have them

hemmed up after washing them in hot water a few times.

You will love the deep front pockets and if you're into "Concealed Carry"

you could easily and comfortably be armed and no one will be the wiser.

I recently started buying the Flex Firehose work pants and they are

stellar.  They are 97% cotton and 3% spandex and they are very comfortable.

They are lighter material than the regular Firehose work pants so I probably

wouldn't wear them on the coldest day of the year without long johns.

They have many sales, wait until you get 20% off and free shipping and

get a pair of Flex Firehose Khaki's or Black to start if you aren't sure.

They are not cheap, but that is the point, they last and fit great.

As a parent of young children, all the pockets seem to have something we

need whenever we go out for a long time.  I don't ever need to sit on my

wallet again and feel like George Kastansa either, haha.

Good Luck
