While it is true the voting is not that big of a deal, it is something the board has clearly let known they want. When the old site stopped the voting and hid the points, the torches and pitchforks came out. Brian and Co. quickly returned that feature. They know it is something the board wants. It should have been one of the minor priorities in the new site. While the content is free, site visitors are still your customers with ads, mgo donations and mgo purchases. You need to give them what they want. There is no doubt people want voting, and it should have been included in the initial roll-out.

I love Tenkara on the small creeks in Montana. I have modified the traditional line set-up to cast while there is wind. I have a 12 foot rod and use 4 feet of western fly line, 4 feet of leader and 4 feet of light tippet (nothing stronger than 5x). As someone posted, a snag with strong tippet can result in a broken rod. A short cast with a traditional western fly rod often results in the fly line sliding backwards which is frustrating and why I tried Tenkara. It is a lot of fun, and the small trout are very aggressive to dry flies.
I love all types of fishing and have been lucky to fish all over the world. My favorites are dry fly fishing for trout in Montana, silver salmon fishing in Alaska and tarpon fishing. I just got back from Mexico where I got a grand slam- permit, tarpon and bonefish on the fly. All fishing is great. Tight lines!

Thanks for the time and effort that you put into this. It seems as if there may be some bias against Michigan, but the stronger trend is that the underdogs get more breaks- hence the Bama and Michigan results. Although, one would think tOSU would be closer to Bama and us than the data shows.

|11/20/2017 - 10:49pm||He did not seem to be||
He did not seem to be well-liked in Missoula. Almost like the RR situation in Ann Arbor. He did not recruit locally and did not schmooze the local high school coaches. He was not great with boosters either. They were always lukewarm about him which I thought surprising based on how Brian pumped him up. I thought Stitt would use this as a stepping stone to FBS, and he might have thought that too. But he never could get his defense good and did not win enough to get a longer opportunity. Sound familiar?
|11/19/2017 - 2:33pm||Did you see the game||
Did you see the game yesterday? Do you think the offensive play-calling was imaginative?
Again, you pretend to be a "realistic poster," but you put words in my mouth. Did you read my post? I specifically said Harbaugh was too over-the-top previously, but he seems to have gone into a shell. Where did I say I wanted him to go ape shit? That is a total straw man and beneath you.
You and some others get too defensive about legitimate criticism of the coaches and cause the level of discourse on this site to deteriorate. I am not pining for the return of RR. I stated, "I disliked the tenure of RR..." I also gave specific examples of coaches attacking our weaknesses. Show me the RPS wins of our offensive staff. Use Brian's UFR. Go ahead. I'm waiting.
|11/19/2017 - 1:34pm||What concerns me, and perhaps||
What concerns me, and perhaps other posters, is Harbaugh's demeanor and the complete lack of creativity on offense. Yes, Harbaugh was too over-the-top previously, but he seems to have gone the other way into a shell. It would be nice for him to be a little fiery on the sidelines.
Second, the comparisons to MSU are are very troubling. They had a terrible record last year and had an even worse off season. They should have a worse O-line than us. Yet, they completely out-coached us. We even had a bye week to prepare for them and laid an egg. We have had no imaginative game plans. We as fans keep waiting for the RPS wins, but are not getting any.
As much as I disliked the RR tenure, he seemed to get receivers blitheringly wide open a couple times a game. Our 11 million dollar coaches seem to think it is acceptable to run up the middle twice and throw or run a draw on third and long. We have seen that since the 70s from Bo to Carr and are sick of it. Dantonio can create some plays to attack our weaknesses, but we never seem to do the same to our opponents. We just continue to slog away. It makes it seem as if our coaches are too stubborn to game plan around our weaknesses and/or attack those of our opponents- like Man-ball taken to the extreme. That is what is so frustrating and why the vitriol level is so high.

Madison is a fun town. When the weather is nicer, you can sit on the patio at the Union on the shores of Lake Mendota and drink beer, enjoying the sights. I do not know if the farmers market around the Capitol is still going this late in the year, but it is great. It is not just vegetables-cheese curds (of course), meats, honey and even gallons of "single-tree" maple syrup (it must be a big tree). It is a great game day atmosphere. It would be nice to move the Wisconsin game to early in the season to enjoy these opportunities when the weather is good.

This reminds me of my glass boat tour of the canals of Amsterdam while under the influence of the local substances. The tour guide explained that all the buildings had large hooks at the roof peaks so furniture and appliances could be placed in the upper floor apartments through the windows by using a rope because the doors and stairwells were small and narrow. So, I suggest putting a very large hook at the roof peak and doing what the Dutch do. I am sure that your landlord won't mind.

My wife has 2 pairs of the fire hose pants. She likes them. They are tough and thick. Good for hunting in brambles/thorns. They have a masculine cut, though. Definitely for work/hunting/gardening-not for out on the town. I tried the men's but found them too baggy and not that comfortable. I returned mine. My good friend who also attended UM likes the outerwear-rain jackets and gloves. He finds them very durable for Michigan's outdoor activities. Hope this helps.

|09/04/2015 - 10:37am||I was not impressed with our||
I was not impressed with our offense last night. It reminded me of the Carr offenses- off tackle with Smith... Where was the motion Brian talked about? Where were the imaginative tweaks to give us an advantage? Frankly, I could imagine Hoke calling those plays. Iowa fans must have been chortling about Rudock. He is average at best. Perhaps the first interception was not his fault (but receivers are told to "sit" in an open area), but the other 2 were definitely his fault. The overthrows were clearly his fault. Chesson was so wide open, he could have floated the ball up there for an easy score. An experienced QB should know better. I am so tired of getting my hopes up every year to have them dashed against the jagged rocks. We should just go the way of University of Chicago and reminisce about the glory days. I have been watching Michigan football for 40 years, and this is crap.

|02/02/2015 - 12:47pm||What gets lost in the whole||
What gets lost in the whole goal line play issue is this- the vaunted Seahawks defense gave up 2 touchdowns in the 4th quarter. Everyone likes to blame one play for a loss (like a field goal miss), but if the Seahawk defense doesn't allow one of those touchdowns, then it is either a victory or at worst a tie and OT (FG instead of TD).

I lived in Madison and know a huge Badger fan. He said that he took his 8 year old son to an autograph signing with Alvarez and Big Bert. He now hates Alvarez. He said that Alvarez was extremely rude to him and his 8 year old son at this Wisconsin PR stunt. He could not believe it. So much for the goodwill Wisconsin was hoping to garner during a PR event. I believe that he must be total ass to work for if he cannot even be nice for a short event put on by his department.

|12/01/2014 - 2:37am||I agree with some of your||
I agree with some of your concerns about Harbaugh. I find his sideline demeanor distasteful. He is like a petulant child.
BUT, to think that his coaching is not at the level of Meyer is false. Most former NFL coaches who are in college failed in the NFL. Saban was terrible there, and yet, most think he is the best college coach. Jim Harbaugh has been to at least the NFC championship game 3 years in a row, and the 49ers were bad before he showed up. Only Belichick with the Pats has equalled that in the recent past, and many consider him to be the best coach in the NFL. Also, he has a great QB in Brady, which Harbaugh has not had. Harbaugh has his warts, but I think he equals or surpasses any college coach in coaching ability.

As always, there are multiple factors involved. The stadium is old, rusty, large and off-campus. The team has not been good since June Jones left. Every home game is on PPV which has really decreased attendance. The UH administration and government officials are incompetent and mostly corrupt. There are many more activities to do on a Saturday, although high school football is huge. The population of the whole state is less than the Austin, Texas metro area. There are too many obstacles to overcome to have a profitable football team.

Other than Ohio, in every other bowl game the Big Ten team is the lower ranked (with Minnesota-Syracuse both unranked). Because of the good bowl tie-ins, the Big Ten is almost always the underdog which skews the Big Ten bowl record and makes the Big Ten seem worse than it actually is.

I agree with Brian here. Space Coyote has written more words on this site in the last couple of weeks than most of the paid MGoBlog employees. While the site is set up for reader feedback, it is as if Space Coyote is using this one as his own forum. He has an outlet on his own website. Magnus makes comments here, but he uses his own blog for longer posts to put his thoughts down. I, for one, have not appreciated Space Coyote's constant responses back and forth with every person who disagrees with him. There was one OP in which a user and Space Coyote's "dialogue" took up almost a whole page of 50 comments. If he wants to defend Borges at such length, he should do it on his own site, not a site that Brian provides. He needs to be more like Magnus.

Finally, someone mentions the problem with the defense. Mattison started out aggressive when he first got here. Now, we are a plain vanilla "bend but don't break" defense. I think that is what is so frustrating to people. Both offense and defense play not to lose instead of playing aggressively to win. Is it written somewhere that Michigan must play boring, conservative football?

Borges does not handle adversity well. He goes into a shell and becomes super-conservative when the game is going poorly. His play calling cost us this game as well as others like Iowa on the road.
I am also tired of the excuses that our personnel does not fit the system. Ohio went from Tressell-ball to Urban's spread in 2 years without any "transition" issues (the one year under Fickell was the result of Tat-gate and "sanctions"). Hoke and company have had 3 years. We should be better.
