Honest question, what happened to Lawrence Marshall

Submitted by ldevon1 on

I never look at participation charts, so maybe he has played some, but I don't recall seeing him. Is he just buried, or is he gone?

I won't presume to say its a discipline issue because I wouldn't know, but he honestly may just be buried on the depth chart. Not outside the realm of possibility with how good this line is. And with so many great players on the line, he's not really needed to be a contributor this year.

Next year is when we're going to need him big time. Wormley, Godin, Glasgow, Charlton, and possibly Hurst are all gone next year and playing on Sundays. That's a lottttt of production walking out the door, and teams are going to be more able (at least initially) to key in on stopping Gary. Marshall needs to be ready to go by next Fall.

1. Has been in the doghouse before.

2. Still needs to gain some weight to be an effective Anchor since that guy has to suck up doubles and keep Peppers clean or we can't get away with a smallish SAM like that.

3. Chris Wormley is back at Anchor pretty much full-time since Hurst and Godin are both fantastic at Tackle and Mone can play there some as well, meaning there's now an All-American at the top of the depth chart who wasn't technically there at the start of the season.

4. Every day Rashan Gary gets better.

5. Early season was opportunity for lots of guys to get snaps and show what they can do. Big Ten season is when you play your bes as many snaps as they're still the best.

6. Taco is back and can also play Anchor when Winovich is on the field.

Marshall will be valuable next year as possibly Gary's backup. Right now there's not a lot of need for him since Michigan can go three-deep at his position with all-conference or better quality players.
