Harbaugh on Newsome: Knee injury doesn't look good

Submitted by Stuck in Lansing on

Harbaugh said Newsome's knee doesn't look good. Mentioned the possibility of surgery in his press conference. Hope the MRI says it is less serious.

EDIT: To be clear nothing confirmed.

have stops on them that disallow hyperextension. However those stops may have broken with the forces in that situation. I think it would have helped reduce or avoid injury, but you can't move as fast in them and if he cracked or broken his tibia, it would not have avoided that.

That looked pretty gruesome. Im no doctor, but I would think surgery is needed anytime the knee hyperextends backwards like that. Oh the good side, I thought 76 played well in replacement.

Seemed like Michigan had trouble moving the ball after Newsome went out. I swear this program is cursed.

Something that's been puzzling me for a while - Magnuson is an average pass blocker and an average run blocker, and he's a little slight.  Why not play him at LT and Bredeson/JBB at RT?  My guess is that it's just plain not gonna happen - we would have heard about Magnuson's versatility if he was capable of winning that job.  But he just seems like his skillset and abilities are ideally suited for that position out of all the remaining options.
