Saturday Night Drinking Thread + What's Up with the Tigers?

Submitted by xtramelanin on

Mates,

What is in your glass/bottle/keg?   Also, saw my first Tiger game in years today (quick round trip downstate) and everything was perfect....except the Tigers.   They were slow, lethargic, had crap at bats, Sanchez didn't even get an out in the 3 rd inning before they had to yank him, and Miggy looked like he gained 30 lbs and was taking tranquilizers.  Errors on defense, Salt(too many vowels) can hit, but he couldn't throw a runner out in little league and launched one throw into center field.

The Tigers have lost 5 out of the last 6, including two to the Indians at home.  JV pitched well last night but no hitting.

So, please diagnose the Tigers and have an adult beverage.

Ausmus, and they should have dumped Verlander's huge contract and kept Max Scherzer but when you make a mistake sometimes it's hard to admit you made the mistake and change course because of ego, etc.

Perrin Grapefruit IPA. Finally in cans up North. I love their Black and Hotbox Brown (probably my new favorite beer over the past year, overtaking Bellaire Brown)

My little girl was born a little over a week ago and is healthy. On top of that, got a call this past week to interview for my dream job in a few weeks.

Went to jail last night. It's been a long 12 hours trying to get my wife out, finally did. She's in the hotel bed sleeping. I'm just happy to have her here safe. I haven't slept or eaten in 40 hours. Drinking a couple beers in the room debating on them being the last I drink.

Backstory, I was in a wedding. Got wayyyyyy too drunk. Made it back to the hotel and got in an argument with some people at the bar. They followed us up to the room. We were in the room safe and I should have went to sleep. But I just couldn't let it go and heard them out there yelling. I walk out, cops were there, I try to go back to the room and get tackled wife comes out and "pushed" the cop asking why I'm being arrested.

Neither of us have ever been to jail. I got resisting arrest, public intox. She got the same plus assault on office. She weighs 100lbs.

Apparently she had a speeding ticket in 2008 we had no idea and that's why it's been heel trying to get her out.

Not sure why I'm sharing all this. It's been rough. May lay off the sauce for awhile

Sometimes sharing helps, even with a bunch of strangers on an online forum amongst god knows who and what people. Anyway....how in thee hell did an argument result in cops getting called and eventually up to around your room?! I feel like details are missing. Even so, sorry for the shitty start to the weekend (unless, no offense, you truly deserved it!).

It's my experience that extreme measures like being arrested and charged with assaulting an officer don't happen to people who weren't already making sub par life decisions. I'm not judging you, just trying to help. You probably need to put that beer can down, get your legal shit sorted out, and then you and your wife need to have a long hard look at the way you do things. Maybe it's just the drinking. Maybe it's the way you act around people. Sounds like rock bottom for you which in my experience feels like a curse at first but is one of the greatest blessings you can get when you're in a rut. Get your shit together. Assess your shit. And throw out what's not bearing any fruit. Good luck.

Sanchez is a 5 now, at best. Even in his earlier starts this year he was putting men on base a la pelfrey in nearly every inning he pitched, the only difference was they weren't crossing the plate. I think this was his fourth or fifth start and I've watched all of them. I've only seen one inning in which he's either struck three guys out, or popped a few out and kept the bases empty.

We Need more starting pitching. I think at the beginning of spring training when everyone said "it all depends on JV and Sanchez and how they perform", every tigers fan every where thought optimistically and only thought "yeah, if they have good years we can win the division or the wild card and make a surprise run like the Red Sox", and NO ONE thought "but if they both have bad years we just spent all this money and end up I. Fifth in the division again by nineteen games, we might need more than just Zimmerman
