Jourdan Lewis and Michael Thomas Won't Be Exchanging Christmas Cards

Submitted by alum96 on

Fun little spat on twitter last night that began when David Long was talking about routes Braxton Miller ran in the Senior Bowl practices.  Lewis chimed in on what OSU runs in an actual game. Thomas took affront.  Lewis went off.  Stuff got deleted quickly.  Power of internet kept some of it alive despite being deleted.

Funny to see Lewis go off on Thomas in video - his public face is so calm and collected.

Also - we really need to begin winning this game again damnit.

Braxton Miller is getting pretty rave reviews. He's bumped his projection up to the 2nd round and according to some, 1st round isn't out of the question.

I don't know if OSU WRs run sloppy routes or whatever. There will be 5 OSU WRs drafted in the past two seasons. Perhaps they underutilize their WR talent with poor coaching. Nick Vannett will get drafted fairly high, too, and he was targeted maybe 1-2 times a game.

Not sure about trash-talking wrt the OSU Pass game/M Pass defense based on last year's game. OSU basically ran the ball every play. 15 pass attempts. I think Thomas had one big catch and drew a PI on Lewis on 4th down. Both those were in the 4th quarter, I think, when it was over.

Almost every coach and scout at the Senior Bowl said Braxton has been great from start to finish. IIRC, the Cowboys' coach Jason Garrett said he gave Braxton some pointers on Day 1 of practice, and by Day 2 Braxton has incorporated all of them. Plus, Braxton just won the Senior Bowl's "Practice Player of the Week."

There are several bigger, more experienced receivers that are coming out early.

Miller is a freak talent but the fact is plain as day: OSU's offense was very ordinary for the amount of talent they had. Their game plan vs MSU was criminal. Half their games they looked disinterested probably from championship hangover.

In any event, Miller wasn't showcased enough so it is not surprising people are finding out he is better than they originally thought.

There are two issues.

  1. Thomas running his mouth. Lewis did a fine job vs. Thomas. That's most of what this twitter tussle is about. Another reason not to use twitter.
  2. Michigan fans running their mouths about OSU. We need to keep 42 - 13 in mind. I'm sick and tired of Urban's smirk. More than anything, I'm looking forward to Harbaugh and Michigan destroying OSU. But here's the thing. Right now, Michigan fans are all hot air. We haven't done a thing. OSU has had Michigan's number the last 10 plus years. We're 1 - 11. Well, 1 - 10, with one loss/win vacated. I've got a bunch of relatives in Cleveland, some of whom are OSU grads, some of whom coach football or played ball in college. I've learned to keep my mouth shut for a good while. OSU fans read this board, just as many of us read their boards. Bragging and jawing about what we're "going to do" makes me smh and roll my eyes. Harbaugh is going to do it, hopefully next season, but until that happens, it's just hot air, and leads to more Urban smirking. Stop it.

chippy, not just in the Game, but even when seniors/grads are on their way to the NFL.  Well, they have played all their episodes of the game--even though some think that Thomas should have stayed one more year.  Lewis still gets his opportunities against whatever receivers the Buckeyes line up next season.  Since they will most likely be as green as could be, it may be the best opportunity for him and the Wolverines.  One things for sure, he won't have to worry about Braxton Miller or Michael Thomas in the Game anymore.  They gone.  Man, I miss college football so much already.
