National Championship MEGACAST open thread
This is kind of ridiculous, but I'd download and watch every version if Michigan was in this game and won it.
Traditional TV broadcast (ESPN): This is your typical TV broadcast featuring Chris Fowler calling play-by-play, Kirk Herbstreit as the analyst, Heather Cox on the Clemson sideline and Tom Rinaldi on the Alabama sideline.
Traditional radio broadcast (ESPN Radio): This is your typical radio broadcast, featuring Mike Tirico calling play-by-play, Todd Blackledge as the analyst, Holly Rowe on the Alabama sideline and Joe Schad on the Clemson sideline.
Film Room (ESPN2): ESPN analysts Brian Griese and Chris Spielman, along with Florida head coach Jim McElwain and other additional guests, will provide in-depth analysis of the game as it happens from a film room equipped with multiple camera angles, clicker technology and telestration at ESPN’s Bristol, Conn., headquarters.
ESPN Voices (ESPNEWS): ESPN personalities watch the game from Los Angeles in a living room-type atmosphere. Participants include Teddy Atlas, Michelle Beadle, Jay Bilas, Taylor Twellman and Marcellus Wiley. Additional guests could be added.
Homer Telecast (ESPNU): Joe Tessitore will host former Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd and former Alabama center Barrett Jones in the booth, along with other quasi-‘game analysts’ with a decidedly partisan view towards their alma maters.
Finebaum Film Room (SEC Network): Paul Finebaum, Greg McElroy, Booger McFarland and Bret Bielema watch the game and provide their instant analysis and reaction while also take live calls throughout the game. Fans can interact by tagging their tweets with #FinebaumFilmRoom.

Mock Replay Booth (ESPN3): Current and former ACC and SEC replay officials take viewers through the full process of reviewing every play from their recreated replay booth set up in Bristol.
Pylon Cam (ESPN3): This broadcast is exactly as it sounds — a continuous stream of the cameras being fed from the eight pylons surrounding the field, both at the goal lines and for the first time from the backlines of the end zones.
Home Town Radio (ESPN3): Each team’s radio announcers will call the game with a customized viewing experience that includes full time isolated shots of head coaches and star players.
Data Center (ESPN3): This broadcast will include significant on-screen graphic content ranging from analytics, real time drive charts, win probability updates, curated social media reaction and more.
Spider Cam (ESPN3): This will be a continuous feed of the “spider cam” that maneuvers above the field of play.

Brought to you by the programming ace who wanted the semifinal games on NYE. Which they will do again next, isn't that the definition of insanity?
Good thing he, nor David Brandon, are not in charge of Super Bowl scheduling.

Sunday is basically the same thing as Monday as you have to go to work the next morning.
January 11th, 2016 at 8:08 PM ^
While you are right about that aspect of it, at least in terms of getting family and friends together to watch the SB as a group and to plan and prep for the party, it is easier as opposed to doing it on a weekday.
Plus, people on the west coast, it is easier for them to be home on time to watch the game on a Sunday (except for those who work weekends) vs. Monday.

In fact, they're pissed about it.
It's funny how people continue to blame them though.

Playoffs and allstar games are on too late for most kids to watch.

...the NCAA basketball championship game has been on a Monday night for, what, like 40 years? Maybe more?

I gotta go to work in the morning people. I can't figure why you don't do like 6:30 on Monday or 8:30 on a Wednesday or Thursday if you wanna be cheeky

80% of the US population lives in the EST or CST. I don't care about hipsters in Portland catching the game.

Uh.....it's been on a Monday for years now.
The NCAA Basketball Championship has been on a Monday forever.

If the game is interesting. Seems to work for Sunday and Monday night football, as well as the basketball championship, World Series, NBA & NHL finals, etc.

This is why Central Time is where it's at. Perfect time zone for major sporting events!

Why aren't people going to be watching?
It's 5:30 on the west coast.
I think they should've started it right at 8p...but this game is going to get a HUGE number. Not sure how long people have to watch for it to "count." But if it's a competitive game...it'll be a huge draw.
January 11th, 2016 at 8:00 PM ^
Watch the mock replay booth. These are mostly all terrible ideas. Especially the living room one.
January 11th, 2016 at 8:03 PM ^
Come on. You don't want to listen to Jay Bilas' thoughts on football...?
January 11th, 2016 at 8:04 PM ^
About Taylor Twellman's thoughts on the soccer aspect of this game.
January 11th, 2016 at 8:06 PM ^
I don't even want Jay Bilas' take on basketball.

In the stands. Also heard this was the cheapest Championship ticket over the last 5 years. Bama fans not wanting to travel to see another championship?
January 11th, 2016 at 8:11 PM ^
At some point, when you've already gone to a bunch of championship games, the market is going to be tapped out for a fanbase. Only so much cash to drop, and only so many games before everyone who'd want to go to one has been--and seen a win. Not to mention probably a lot of folks who spent their money on the semifinal trip. This is a more expensive trip, too, when you consider you have about a week's notice to lock down travel plans.
January 11th, 2016 at 8:12 PM ^
Do people actually want to travel to Phoenix?
I feel like the older crowd would love the golf and outdoors, the younger crowd would like to hangout with the #1 party school in the country. But I'm not sure it screams "vacation" to a lot of people.
At least not like Miami and New Orleans and LA.
January 11th, 2016 at 8:21 PM ^
It depends on the time of year. There are an absolute TON of high end resorts in that town and the surrounding areas, so someone is going there.

It makes me want Michigan in this so damn bad. My DVR would blow up there would be so much recording.
They promote and sell this playoff better than anything, IMO. It can suck if your rival team is playing, but hell, they give you the complete experience.
And I don't mind it...like I said in the Gameday thread, this is it. It's over after this. Take it all in now because it's over for a looooooong time.
Pro Sports drag on forever, but college football gives you just enough and then it's gone.
January 11th, 2016 at 8:27 PM ^
no way in hell I could watch this if osu, sparty, even auburn or ole miss was playing
feels good to watch after sitting out the whole thing last year
January 11th, 2016 at 8:13 PM ^
I am rooting for Clemson though bc that would make 3 straight seasons where the SEC didn't win the title.
Go tigers!!

I would loooove it if the SEC didn't win a CFP for years and all their BCS championships and "ESS-EEE-CEE" ballyhooing could be attributed to BCS-era bias. Their faces would as red as the rebel flags in the backs of their pick-up trucks

Who is this guy, and why is even it necessary to sing America the Beautiful before the football game?
Also, apparently the lyrics are "Groan thy good with rutherfood..."

January 11th, 2016 at 8:21 PM ^
...wasn't the national anthem....
January 11th, 2016 at 8:24 PM ^
Yes, which is why I put it in """"" QUOTES
Not everything I write is meant to be taken literally. Just like yesterday when I mentioned that the Vikings had rennovated the Minn stadium and chose the sunny side of the sidelines. That is the truth but the "Internet Police" here tried to call me out on it (note the quotes around Internet Police). As I result, I posted articles showing my point. WTF
