Saturday night drinking etc. thread

Submitted by Optimism Attache on

Tonight we imbibe to welcome Crawford and wish Nauta luck at Georgia, even if they don't turn out to really use tight ends much.

I went with a Tank 7 from Boulevard Brewing in Kansas City. Farmhouse is a new style for me, but I was pleasantly surprised.

How are you doing it, doing it, and doing it well?

Starting with a Founders Azacca IPA.  Not sure after that:  Lagunitas Sucks, Stone Xocoveza Charred, J.W. Lees Harvest Sherry Cask Aged and Crafted/Cigar City KLP Mead all on deck.  Have a growler of AleSmith Hawaiian Speedway but I'm not doing that solo.

Sadly, as drinking is out of bounds until such time as they feel my cardiovascular system is functioning normally again, it's sparkling cider because that's as frisky as I am allowed to get on Saturday for the time being. Still, not a bad day for Michigan in getting Dylan Crawford, so even if it is a sad excuse for a drink, I shall raise a glass with everyone else all th same.

I don't know what all but 2 of the beers I had tonight were called. In Amsterdam so it's all stuff from the Netherlands/Belgium. Staying away from typical NL beers (Heinekin or Stella).

Mostly really good stuff, though I did spot a bar next to the coffee shop that has Arrogant Bastard and Dark Horse Sapient Trip Ale.

coming down to the wire.  back-to-back turnovers get the steelers the ball back  with about 1:10 to go.  fitz toussaint has about 115 yds from scrimmage too.

the announcers are talking about the crowd behaving 'disgracefully'.  lots of ohio fans there, so no surprise.  and a vicious cheap shot by cincy #55.

and pittsburgh just kicked a field goal to take the lead with14 sceonds left.  beautiful.  go steelers.

I've never seen anything like that in my life. By far the craziest game I've ever witnessed. Bengals have no discipline at all. Both sides played dirty and threw cheap shots. Shitshow for most of the game, but entertaining nonetheless.

as I have been drinking the same thing for the past 7 years, and it's all related to the time of year. That has been the period of time I have been coming down to the small, beautiful Mexican city of Ajijic to spend my winter months. In that time I have learned, instead of drinking beers and hitting tequilas in shot form, to instead take a good brand of Tequila, Centario will do, pour in a strong shot to shot and a half, fill remainder of glass with mineral water - agua minerala - and top it off with a splash of coke. In this way you enjoy a rather good tasting cocktail without the impact of a bunch of shots sneaking up on you.

And just as a reminder that the program is turning around quickly, I was offered the variety of bowl games that all of you in the states were. Most were done in Spanish. However, for the Citrus Bowl, I was able to watch the game and to my delight listen to the play by play in Spanish. I'm telling you everything is coming up Harbaugh.
