ONE Crystal Ball flipped to Ohio State for Chris Evans

Submitted by Mattavious on

Harbaugh can't close!!!! /s   I just saw that a Jeremiah Sharpe flipped his crystal ball to Ohio State for Chris Evans.  I am just wondering if anyone has heard any rumblings at all.  As far as I know, no visits have been set up.  Is this guy just figuring that because Ohio State offered, that's good enough to sway his prediction?  It is just ONE crystal ball but I'm hoping this isn't a "where there's smoke, there's fire" kind of thing.  I know this class is going to be amazing when it's all said and done, just curious if anyone has heard anything.

Wasn't Evans going to be converted to a slot receiver for us? Wonder if he will be looking around now with Nate Johnson recently committing ? Hope not, Evans has that game breaker speed we need!

For what it's worth:

1. This guy and his "blog" are the Ace Williams of the OSU reporting community.

2. You may see the actual legitimate OSU sources (Birmingham, Gleitman, et al) make this pick also given Evans' previous statements about OSU, but certainly not, as seen here, on a complete shot in the dark.

Wow.  For a fanbase that claims to not care about Michigan.....  Also, if this guy gets his predictions right, instead of calling him the "Ace Williams" of the OSU blogosphere, shouldn't they call him the "Jim Tressel" of the OSU blogosphere?  Then again, they think he's no more of a cheater than Tom Brady in spite of sanctions going back to Youngstown and enabling his players to profit when it was against the rules and then (in the case of Clarett) throwing them under the bus when it could end up hurting him.

Whoa.  I got distracted there for a second.

if Evans decommits, we still have Johnson and possibly Crawford in that slot role. Not even sure we'd have room for Pie Young, if the staff is trying to address depth at another position - ie OT or ILB.

either way, the next few weeks will be fun to watch unfold.

it wouldn't hurt M's depth too much, since N. Johnson is committed and 2 more slot WR's are on the board.  However, N. Johnson wants to visit 3 more schools.

From a facing OSU perspective, it's not good for us since we would have to play against Evans.  He is a competitive, solid player.

Honestly, it doesn't matter if we lose Evans to Osu.  We got Walker and we're in line for either Lavert Hill or David Long.  This class is loaded and from what I'm hearing it's about to get much better come NSD.

Sure, it's possible that 5 star OT (and number 2 player in the nation), Greg Little may flip his commitment from Ole Miss to U-M come NSD. It's reported that him and Rashan Gary have built a great friendship over the last month or so and many believe Gary favors U-M. And that the two have had discussions about attending the same school. Also, Dylan Crawford and David Long are believed to be silent commitments, which could be huge for the future because it establishes a California pipeline. Unfortunately it doesn't look like we will land Nauta, but DE Connor Murphy out of AZ may still be in play for the good guys!

With all of the commits we have and all of the ones we are in the running for and our glaring need for linebackers that THIS is the guy that worries us about Harbaugh closing?

The panic over losing Vic Viramontes, a low rated prospect Harbaugh "discovered" (and apparently because of some discrepancy in positions, to an offer from CALIFORNIA--and the now almost seemingly "well, Good Bye Chris, we have Pie Young" is a clear statement of how fruitless it is to pay attention to recruiting.

On the one hand, an OFFER to a pretty highly rated (certainly much higher than Viramontes) generates a "yawn, oh well, NEXT" while the loss of a guy mostly know for nice hair and working out alot generates MUCH CONCERN OMG.

Come on now--Remember all the past reactions like this in the past? Usually the decommits are guys who never surface again. We should keep Evans, and hopefully will. At least he's been steady for a lot longer than Viramontes ever was.

But really--all this recruiting hubub (i'll admit it's an offseason hot topic) usually ends up for naught, especially when you consider that in the long run, about 20% of these guys will ever be meaningful contributors.
