24/7,Scout,Rivals,etc

Submitted by GoBlueUSMC on

Well, my 24/7 subscription has expired and trying to see which subscription service (if any) that people would recommend.

I'm already an ESPN insider, but they suck at college football stuff so they're not in the running.

Thanks!

If Josh Helmhodlt was still at the Wolverine, I would say Rivals for sure.  Sull to me, has been a major downgrade since he took over for him.  Balas though for hoops is money.  Can't say anything about the other three as I have only ever been with Rivals.  Been thinking about giving Scout a whirl as honestly, Sulls condescending way of writing is really getting old.

Rivals does a nice promo about once a year where you get a $99 fan shop merchandise gift card if you become a premium member.  They have a huge selection of U-M merchandise also. Unfortunately they run it at random times so not sure when the next promo will occur.

If you feel the need to absolutely have to join a site then go with scout. Nowadays information leaks out either way and you don't even need it though.

don't buy video games.  I know that, as sure as the sun will rise tomorrow, I will spend too much time on them.

I already spend too much time on MGoBlog and it's free.

For as many complaints as there are about the interface of MGoBlog/Drupal, this is just about the easiest website to navigate (aside from going from page to page on the board). But commenting, following conversations, keeping up with new topics/comments, etc. is way easier than on Rivals, 247, etc. That makes it easy to spend too much time here.

I wish Sam went out on his own or got a Godfather offer from 247 to team with Lorenz. Sam is top notch, but Scout makes everything else miserable. Everytime they introduce a new feature, nothing else works for days. They insist on EVERYTHING done on a click bait article or a video. I much prefer 247's quick hitter style approach. One thing to appreciate with Scout ,is Sam goes to the all star games and a lot of camps himself and provides good info. As far as I can tell, 247 only sends their National guys to events. I am not sure about Rivals. I have never had a subscription there, due to the fact that I can't stand Tim Sullivan.

and on MGoBlog about the same amount of time. I think they compliment each other nicely. MGoBlog is more subversive, while Rivals is a bit more staid and party-line, for the most part.

The insder info in Rival's "Inside the Fort" posts are the most useful must-read content, and it frequently tells me things I'm not seeing on MGoBlog. That by itself is the bulk of the subcription value. Their sources are excellent. It's not worth $100/yr. more than MGoBlog, so every year I tell myself not to renew, but every year ends up being "OK, one more year."

The recruiting roundups and "hot lists" are a more user-friendly way to keep up with recruiting, in my opinion, than the weekly recruiting summaries here. But the Hello posts here are much better. So it's a mix.

I don't bother with their message boards as they have no wit and style compared to this place.

and like both. If you're primarily interested in football, I'd give a slight nod to scout, but it's close. I think there are better basketball posters on rivals. it's a close call either way.
