MGoFish: Next DC Expected to be a "3-4 Guru" and a Slamdunk Hire
Team Harbaugh is apparently giving some recruits information on who the next DC will be, and I suspect we will be very happy with the decision based on these rumblings:
#Michigan expected to hire a "3-4 guru" as their next defensive coordinator https://t.co/7dN9QAtBZW

Also, MGoFish is hearing positive things about Bush and Walker. While the dude can be over optimistic at times, his sources seem to be fairly solid.

I've read all about Gary's skillset, and I completely understand the positional responsibilities of our defense. I also don't think that we're likely to run the same sets as Durkin ran. But I'm not sure Gary couldn't play buck and be horrifyingly good at it.

Pagano was DC under Harbaugh's brother in Baltimore and worked with Mattison there. So he clearly has connections to the staff.
If he's really on his way out in Indy and doesn't want to wait around for a HC job, I think he would fit the bill of being a "home run hire". But why wouldn't he wait for his own HC job?

Pagano has three straight 11-5 seasons as an NFL coach. I know Harbaugh is awesome and all, but I think Pagano's resume speaks for itself at this point. Blaming him for Luck getting hurt this year is pretty silly.
I won't discount him wanting to coach his nephew and possibly get away from the NFL grinder for a year or two though. I can't imagine he would be more than a very short-term hire.

Obviously unqualified to coach at Michigan. Do not want.

That would be ironic and hilarious. Espn speculates Harbaugh to Indy. Well yea but its to bring thier HC back to AA to work for him at Michigan.

they have a limited number of spots left and they will use those spots for them if there's a good chance they become wolverines otherwise if they're on the fence the spots are gone. Maybe something as simple as that.

but doesn't 3-4 = -1? Why the heck would we run a minus one defense? I'm going to get into my 16 (4x4), head to the bar and try to get some answers.

Just spitballin' here, but what about Mike Pettine as DC? He's likely done in Cleveland and he seems way more suited to college than the pros, although I don't think he's ever coached college. He's also a defensive guy, although you wouldn't know it from watching Cleveland. Don't know what I'm getting at, but if Pagano is an option, it would seem Pettine is in the same vein.

Gotta be Dick LeBeau. I know he's 78 and never coached college football, but I'm sure he'd love to go on the road recruiting.
