OT: Reggie Bush Suing St. Louis

Submitted by FauxMo on

I had not seen this posted (please delete if I missed it, MODS), but Reggie Bush is apparently suing the city of St. Louis because of the potentially career-ending knee injury he received playing in the city-owned Edward Jones Dome.

I REALLY hope this doesn't turn into a debate about attorneys or tort reform or whatever, but it sure seems to me Bush has a slam-dunk case here. Another player was injured a few weeks earlier, and now the city/stadium is rushing to cover the concrete that caused the injury before the Rams next home game.

I'd say the fact that the St Louis is rushing to cover up the concrete is pretty much admission of guilt. Just unfortunate that the team gets to profit from the stadium and the city (taxpayers) will pay the lawsuit. The Rams should be paying.

-covering up the concrete is not admissible for purposes of fault, but some people will know about it anyway

-I have no opinion on Reggie Bush, but when watching the Denver game yesterday, I reacted to the Talib eyepoke with the thought that it was a criminal act.  If there were physical damages, I would consider a civil claim.  The laws of each state are different, and there are various exceptions, not to mention contract clauses, that will protect defendants in these situations, so I have no idea if a civil claim would succeed.  Just my own thought that it was a criminal act.  Nothing about the violence of the game justified what he did.  I would also suspend him for multiple games.  But that is just me, a Jew lawyer.

-as far as the Jew lawyer comment, regardless of the "pro-Semitic" concept that having one would guarantee success, I was insulted on a Monday morning, thank you very  much.  There was no /s, and I have never heard of that show, because I am old.  Consider your viewers when you broadcast this kind of thing.  Jew lawyer, Lower Merion class of '77, JD '85, living in New Mexico since '88.  My whole family has 1 or 2 UM degrees.  Some of us are Jewish and some are not.  We know how to kid around successfully, and this post would tick us all off.  Do I have to keep going?

I would think you'd find more precedent in Hockey in terms of criminal conduct during a game.

Of course most of those cases are in Canada where people aren't nearly as litigous and the process moves far slower.

Not sure what percentage of Canadian lawyers and lawmakers are Jewish, but I'd bet there are some.  eh.

Well, you didn't want a debate on Tort Reform ..you didn't say anything about a stupid debate over sarcasm, anti-semetism and cable-only TV programs.

Excellent work!!

As for the OP ...sue everybody!  Sue Edward Jones (not that it would equate to the deep pockets of any real Wall Street firm) ...sue the Concrete Company and the contractors who poured the first flooring at the dome.  Sue the Rams for the fun of it and file an injunction against the use of "Fastest Team on Turf" because it implies turf is somehow good.

Sue 'em all!!

Oh sorry, almost forgot .... /S
