BYU is a dirty team

Some of you are probably fully aware of BYU's recent history, but others may not be. After watching several BYU games over the last year I have noticed that they are one of the dirtier teams in college football. There have been three instances that I think should be highlighted: 1. The brawl against Memphis in their bowl game. 2. Several personal fouls and late hits in the Nebraska game. 3. The below the belt shot in the Boise State game. I'd be embarrassed to be a fan of their team at this point. They are either totally undisciplined, encouraged to play like this, or both. Glad we didn't hire Mendenhall. Regardless, as fans we should be vigilant of this crap and make sure the refs don't let them get away with some cheap shots in the Big House. http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2015/9/13/9319205/byu-football…

People have hurled this same "dirty play" accusation against Notre Dame for years. Must be something about schools with a religious affiliation that prompts it. I mean, the BYU players go on those "missions" to try and get folks to become Mormons, and the players (at least those who profess Mormonism) don't even drink caffeinated coffee fergodsakes! And don't forget that the school's polygamous namesake had all those wives. If you're so disposed then, there's a lot not to like about the whole Brigham Young setup. Just like ND with those Catholics and Jesus overlooking the stadium and all that. The slope from such a mindset to allegations of "dirty play" can be short and slippery.

It's one thing to play dirty against Nebraska or Boise... I would hope they didn't against UCLA, but against Michigan, a LOT more eyes will be on them than there has been for their first three games... Not to mention, if it's the defensive side of the ball, I feel like our O-line won't tolerate those "cheap shots"... Then again, one cheap shot might ignite a fire under one of our offensive linemen to channel his inner 2008 Capital One bowl version of Jake Long just crushing defenders

A friend of mine played 4yrs at Wyoming and said BYU is the dirtiest team he's ever played and it was a well known fact among the MWC/WAC teams. He also said they're the most racist team he ever faced where derogatory slurs were commonplace. And apparently grabbing your junk or punching your ballsack was their M.O.

But nobody outside of Provo likes BYU ...hell, Utes fans hate them the most!

I also have a lot of first hand experience with doing business in Utah and said before the Utes game that all the stereotyping of Utah was misguided. BYU and Provo is its own world and by my experience as a white guy with blue eyes, racism is rampant within that culture.

Gee a bunch of dudes growing up being taught to have a feeling of superiority over others of a certain gender and to repress any feeling of non conformity and we wonder where all that rage comes from???

Have to give them credit.  I hope our OL keeps that nasty that I have been seeing the last two games. Kalis loves to finish whatever he starts, its great to see.  If they want to dirty it up, then Jimmy will get the boys ready for whatever.

But I bet if BYU does dirty it up after plays, I have a good feeling our guys wont fall for that crap.  Jimmy will get the guys prepared to keep it between the whistles. But punish them inbetween the whistles.

play the Sparties for many, many, years now. By far, the Sparties are the dirtiest team we have ever played, BY FAR. I have never seen a team as dirty as the Sparties one example: A Spartan player tried to twist Denards head off, while he was laying on the ground. That IS Spartan Pride. I am sure they would say a punch in the groin is kindergarden stuff.

you mention late hits in the Nebraska game.  That's part of the game. Happens all the time in every NCAA game.

One play you probably are looking at is when our DB (Preator) hit the Nebraska Tight End on an incomplete pass.   Sounds logical that it was a late hit and even worse when it ended up injuring the TE.

Look at it again (if you have access to it) and you'll see Preator was beat and was trying to close ground.  The pass was high and went off the TE's hands which were up over his head.

Preator, arguably, didn't know the ball had been caught. He had his head down and was trying to make the tackle.  He didn't look up at the ball and didn't know if it had been caught or not.

On the BSU punch in the nuts....no excuse for that.
